You’re commissioned to recover the Queen’s lost children following a strange incident in the palace quarters. The quest is a combination of creepy exploration and NPC interactions to reveal an unsettling family secret beneath the palace.
1. Speak to the Midwife (Quest Trigger)
The quest starts in the kids’ bedroom, where you’ll meet the Midwife. She tells you upon interrogation that the Queen’s children—Renaud, Hugo, and Noah—are absent from her core. She charges you with a mission to find and bring them back.
2. Investigate the Garden Servant
Go out to the garden, where a Servant is waiting. Speak with him to discover that Prince Renaud has gone missing. The servant looks frightened, suggesting he fears what the Midwife and Queen will do to him for failing his duties.
You will be presented with two dialogue choices:
- Ask what becomes of those who disobey the Queen
- Ask about Prince Renaud’s whereabouts
Select the second to advance. He informs you that Renaud disappeared after gazing into the well, and encourages you to go look for him.
3. Enter Wight via the Well
Approach the well in the garden to be brought to Wight, a spooky, transitional area teeming with odd creatures. Be warned—a hostile character will assault you soon after arrival.
Investigate the location to locate Prince Renaud, who proudly stands in the bizarre terrain. He brags about being the eldest child of the Queen and King, acting arrogant and entitled. When you request that he return, he at first teases you and refuses but finally concludes that he will return after a brief conversation.
4. Find Hugo and Defeat Despair
Your next target is Hugo. Head downstairs to a room with a crib and soft music playing in the background. Here, you’ll encounter Despair, guarding Hugo.
Fighting Despair
- Difficulty: Low to Moderate
- Reward: Ring of Despair
Defeat Despair to proceed. After the battle, interact with Hugo’s crib to mark him as found.
5. Locate Noah in the Bathing Room
Now go and locate Noah, frequently bathed by Queen’s servants. He is located downstairs, reclining within a bathtub in the bathing room.
Noah describes, cryptically, how his mother treated him, suggesting emotional as well as potential psychological trauma. There is no fighting here—just talk to him to finish this task.
6. Return to the Midwife
With all three children—Renaud, Hugo, and Noah—found, return to the children’s room and talk to the Midwife to finish the quest or unlock the next part of the story.
