Looking for a side quest that’s easy to start but oddly vague in execution? Meet Goddard, the blind artist tucked away in the Overture DLC. Her story is touching—but also easy to miss if you don’t follow certain steps. Here’s a complete breakdown of how to follow her journey and get all the rewards tied to it.
Where to Find Goddard
- Head to the Carnival area.
- At the very end, right before you board the tram that takes you deeper into the DLC, you’ll hear someone calling out.
- Follow the voice, and you’ll come across a woman in a wheelchair—this is Goddard.
Step 1: The Canvas
1. Speak to Goddard and accept her request for help.
2. Her canvas is right in front of her, on the ground. Pick it up.
3. Place it back on her easel.
4. She’ll then ask what you think of it. Choose carefully here:
- Say it’s “Incredible” (a lie): This is the correct option. She’ll be delighted and the quest will continue. You’ll also gain some Humanity.
- Say it’s “Just a blank canvas” (the truth): She’ll be offended and refuse to speak to you again, ending the quest right then and there.
Step 2: Unspoken Objective – Art Supplies
Goddard won’t ask for this directly, but you’ll need to find her art supplies to keep things moving later.
Where to find them:
- Go to the Zelator Underground Facility.
- After defeating Veronique, turn off the coolant, and unlock the fourth Stargazer.
- From there, head down the stairs on the right.
- Look for a table near the shortcut to the Two-Faced Overseer boss—that’s where the supplies are.
Return these items to Goddard once you’ve picked them up. She’ll thank you and give you a Dim Ergo Chunk. No big changes yet, but this sets up the final part of her quest.
Step 3: When to Check Back
- Continue through the DLC until after you’ve beaten Lumacchio.
- Important: Don’t defeat the final DLC boss just yet, or you’ll be locked out of the final step in Goddard’s story.
Step 4: Goddard’s Fate
- Return to where you first met her.
- Sadly, you’ll find she has passed away.
- On her easel is a completed painting, and next to it is a letter titled “To The One Within The Darkness.”
- Pick up both.
Bonus Reward – A Hidden Vinyl
- Check your inventory and inspect the painting.
- Doing so unlocks the Clear Blue Sky vinyl.
- Head to Hotel Krat and play the track all the way through for an extra Humanity boost.
Step 5: Hanging the Painting
- Go to Eventide Krat Hotel.
- Look for the empty wall near the door that leads to the training garden (close to where Venigni and the Legion Arm machine used to be).
- Approach the area, and a cutscene will automatically play, showing the painting being hung on the wall.
Final Interaction – Humanity Boost
- After beating the final boss and returning to the present-day timeline, go back to the hotel.
- Interact with the painting again.
- The colors will brighten, and you’ll gain one final boost of Humanity.
And that’s it! Goddard’s quest doesn’t demand much from you, but it’s easy to mess up or overlook without realizing. If you play it right, though, you’ll unlock a touching moment, a cool vinyl, and some extra Humanity to round out your experience.
