In Lies of P, you’ll come across a strange side quest involving a talking puppet known as the Crusher Puppet. This quest takes place during Chapter 3: Overture, and if you follow the right steps, you can help this puppet and earn a special reward. In this guide, we’ll walk you through where to find the Crusher Puppet, how to continue its quest, and what choice you need to make at the end to get the best outcome.
How to Start the Crusher Puppet Quest
Start by making your way through the Ancient Ruins Excavation Site in Chapter 3: Overture like you normally would. After some progress, you’ll reach a wooden bridge that slopes downward. Cross it, then take the path to the left you’ll see a cave entrance. Head inside, and you’ll soon hear a robotic voice talking. That’s the Crusher Puppet. Look around the cave until you find it, then talk to it to start the quest.
Crusher Puppet Quest Guide
Keep going through the level until you reach the Ergo Mining Site Stargazer. Here, you will need to use a moving platform to keep progressing. After riding it, head down the path on the right, and you will hear the Crusher Puppet calling out to you again. Walk past the crates and follow the tracks going upward; you will find the puppet waiting. Talk to it again, and then take the exit beside it to rejoin the main path.
Next, after you drop down from a cave later in the level, turn right and go across a short wooden bridge. This will lead you to a second, much longer wooden bridge. Run across that one to reach another cave. As soon as you enter, you will hear the Crusher Puppet calling from your left. Talk to it again and make sure to listen to everything it has to say. This continues the quest.
Help the Crusher Puppet
Now, progress until you reach the Pistris Harbor Stargazer, still in Chapter 3. From the Stargazer, go down to the large platform below. Look for a path made out of wooden planks, follow it. Here you will find a Brain in a Vat, who will ask for your help. When the choice pops up, select “Help him” to complete the quest.
If you choose to help him, he’ll thank you and finally tell you his full name Alexander Goodman. He’s not just anyone; he’s the inventor and the very first person to survive using the Mindkeeper Machine. Once you shut the machine down, you’ll be rewarded with the Nightmare Record. If you choose to refuse Alexander, you won’t get any kind of reward. He will stay alive in the vat for a while, but eventually, he will die anyway, likely because the gas keeping him going runs out.
