If you’re playing through Clair Obscur Expedition 33, you may come across an item called the Old Key. This key opens a locked door later in the game, and finding it is part of unlocking an important achievement. In this guide, we’ll walk you through exactly where to use the Old Key and how to get it, so you can uncover all the secrets hidden behind the locked door.
Where To Use The Old Key

You won’t be able to use the Old Key until you reach the Old Lumiere level, which happens about 10-15 hours into the game. At this point, you’ll be controlling Malle and a character named Verso. Keep playing until you reach the Left Street Rest Point flag. From there, head forward along the path, then turn right, passing a giant sword stuck in the ground. Go through the broken doorway and immediately turn right again. You’ll see a structure sticking out that you can walk across.
Look up, and you’ll spot a glowing item, a Polished Chroma Catalyst. But if you drop down onto the structure, you’ll find a locked door that requires the Old Key to open. Use the Old Key to unlock the door and inside, you’ll find the Fracture Survivor journal. Collecting this counts toward unlocking the Clair Obscur trophy/achievement called “Follow the Trail.”
Where To Get The Old Key
During the Festival, you will have the chance to pick up an item called the Old Key. As you make your way down the steps, look to the left where you’ll see three vendor stalls. Each of these vendors offers a reward in exchange for a Festival Token. You’ll begin with just one Token, but there are more available before you leave the area. Once you’ve got at least one Token on hand, head over to the rightmost stall. Colette, the vendor there, will offer you a mysterious item in return for a Token. If you go ahead with the trade, you’ll receive the Old Key.
