How to Use and Refill Scouts in Assassin’s Creed Shadows (Scout Chest Location)

Scouts in Assassin’s Creed Shadows are a valuable tool for tracking targets, gathering supplies, and running your Hideout. Unlike usual waypoints, the game actually challenges players to do a little detective work, having scouts identify where things are and reveal useful information. Scouts have a limited amount per season, though, so learning how to use, replenish, and upgrade them is important to having a good network. In this article, we are going to discuss how to use and resupply scouts, how to upgrade your Hideout in order to grow your scout network, and locate the Scout Chest where you can manage your resources efficiently.

How to Use Scouts in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, scouts play a key role in tracking objectives and gathering resources, but you only have a limited number each season. Fortunately, there are ways to replenish them. You can either wait for the season to change (or manually change it yourself) to get all your scouts back, or you can visit the Kakurega at your Hideout and pay a small fee to refill them.

If you want to increase your total number of scouts, upgrade the Study in your Hideout. Each upgrade adds another scout to your League, giving you more flexibility for missions and resource collection.

In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, missions often require a bit of detective work instead of just following waypoints. When tracking a target or searching for a lead, you’ll receive a few clues to help you figure out where to go.

Scouting Unknown Lands

If you think you’ve pinpointed the right area but want to speed things up, you can send out scouts. Simply press Square/X, and an option will appear to dispatch scouts to the location you’ve chosen. If your guess is correct, a blue icon will show up on your map, marking a general radius, you’ll still need to do some final searching on your own. If you’d rather take a more direct approach, you can enable Guided Exploration, which places clear markers on your map, showing exactly where to go next.

Smuggling Resources

Out in the world, you’ll come across resource stockpiles that can be smuggled back to your Hideout. To do this, make sure you’re not spotted or in combat, then select the “smuggle resources” option when prompted. Your scouts will handle the job, and the resources will be delivered at the change of the season. Keep in mind that each stockpile requires at least two scouts to transport. If you send out too many scouts early in the season, you may not have enough left for other important tasks.

Removing Wanted Level

If you get caught sneaking into a castle and an enemy rings the alarm bell, your character will gain a Wanted status. To clear it, you can send out two scouts. Open the world map, go to the area where you’re wanted, and press X/A to remove the status. However, this feature is only available after upgrading your Hideout’s Kakurega to Rank 2. Also, scouts can only clear the Wanted status in one province at a time, so if you’ve caused trouble in multiple regions, you’ll need to send out additional scouts to cover each area.

How to Refill Scouts in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

If you want to increase the number of scouts in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, start by building a Study in your Hideout. This serves as your league’s intelligence hub, helping you expand your scout network.

Once the Study is built, you can upgrade it up to level 3, with each upgrade adding one extra scout, allowing you to have a maximum of six scouts. It’s also a good idea to upgrade your Stable, as it reduces the number of scouts needed to smuggle resource pallets.

Keep in mind that constructing and upgrading buildings in your Hideout requires plenty of resources. You can gather them from castles and enemy camps or purchase them from Port Vendors in major villages if you have enough Mon (in-game currency).

If you to refill scouts in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, here are a few ways to do it. One option is to regain scouts is by saving NPCs in trouble. As you explore the open world, you’ll come across NPCs being harassed by enemies. Defeat the attackers and speak to the NPC afterward. You’ll then have the choice between World Rumor or Scout Intel, choosing Scout Intel will restore one scout to your network.

Another way is to visit the Kakurega, located inside your main Hideout or in other hideouts you’ve purchased across different villages. Once inside, look for the colorful bags hanging on the wall and interact with them to refill your scouts. Each refill costs 200 Mon.

Lastly, scouts automatically refill when the season changes. You can manually switch the in-game season or wait for 60 real-world minutes for it to happen naturally. Once the new season begins, all your scouts will return from their expeditions, fully replenished.

Scout Chest Location

Scouts are a crucial part of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, serving as a new system for finding quest objectives and gathering materials to upgrade your Hideout. When you first acquire your Hideout, the first step is to build a Kakurega, which acts as the main hub for managing your scouts. The primary use of scouts is to help track quest objectives.

To send scouts out, open the world map, locate your objective, and select a general area where you believe it might be. Press X to dispatch scouts to that location. If your guess is correct and the objective falls within their scouting range, it will be marked on your map, making it easier to find.

This system helps streamline exploration while still requiring a bit of detective work. If you run out of scouts, you can replenish them by either waiting for the season to change, manually changing it yourself, or visiting the Kakurega at your Hideout and paying a small fee.
