Navigating the dark and dangerous world of Kingdom Come: Deliverance can be treacherous without a light to guide your way. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about torches, from acquiring one to using it effectively, including tips on how to combine it with your preferred combat style. Whether you’re haggling with merchants or looting fallen foes, mastering the use of a torch is essential for survival in Bohemia.
How To Get A Torch In Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
You can find a torch in Kingdom Come: Deliverance in two main ways: You can buy one from most traders, with the first one you’ll likely encounter being Jurg Thomel in Troskowitz. Torches usually cost around 6 Groschen, but you can try haggling for a better price. Alternatively, you can try your luck looting torches from enemies, especially those you find out in the wilderness. You might have to resort to less honorable methods like killing, robbing, or pickpocketing, though.
How To Use A Torch

To use it, you’ll need to equip it first. Open your inventory and select the torch. You’ll see a special slot for it, usually highlighted in yellow.
On PC, you can either double-click the torch or drag it into that slot. Then, exit the inventory and press ‘R’ to light it up.
On Xbox, press ‘A’ to equip it, exit the inventory, and hold down the down arrow on the D-pad.
PlayStation users, press ‘X’ to equip, exit the inventory, and hold down the down arrow on the D-pad. Just a heads-up for console players: it might take a second for the prompt to actually use the torch to appear on screen.
Torches, like other equipment, can wear down the more you use them. However, unlike your weapons and armor, a torch won’t completely break. Once you have a torch, it’s yours to keep – it’ll just gradually become less effective over time.
Keep in mind that using a torch means you can’t use a shield or a two-handed weapon. If you prefer using a longsword, it’s a good idea to get the “Arm of Beowulf” perk in the Sword skill tree. This perk lets you use a longsword and a torch at the same time, which is super helpful for any nighttime fights.
In towns and villages, people are expected to carry a torch after dark if they’re out and about. Creeping around in the dark is a good way to raise suspicion. Guards will likely tell you to light a torch right away, and if you don’t, they might become hostile. On the flip side, having a lit torch makes it much harder to sneak around, so if you’re up to no good, sticking to the shadows is your best bet.
