How to Use a Heavy Crane and Cargo Truck Efficiently in RoadCraft

Handling heavy loads is the key to moving forward in RoadCraft. Whereas Mule T1 cranes work well early on, you shall eventually face loads too heavy and large for them, particularly on maps such as Sunken. Then comes in the heavy crane.

However, the heavy crane has one drawback-it does not have a flatbed so it can carry no cargo on its own. But with the right strategy, it definitely can be used very efficiently without having to make several runs.

Recommended Setup

  • Early Game Crane: Mule T1 with a flatbed and crane attached.
  • Heavy Crane: High-capacity lifting vehicle unlocked later.
  • Cargo Truck: Greenway 740 Cross or similar type of truck with a flatbed.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Understand the Limitation

  • The Mule T1 will become insufficient for the heavier or bulkier loads later on.
  • The heavy crane will be able to lift approximately 40 tons with a very good reach, but it has no storage space.

2. Prepare the Cargo Truck

  • Choose a flatbed-type cargo vehicle like the Greenway 740 Cross.
  • Set it somewhere close or where you want the pickup.

3. Use the Heavy Crane Like a Winch

  • Attach the crane to the cargo truck on one attachment point, almost like a winch.
  • Slowly and carefully drag the cargo truck toward the target location using the crane. To avoid accidents, make sure you’re slow and steady with everything.

4. Load the Cargo

  • Once in position, use the crane to lift and load the desired equipment or rubble onto the cargo truck’s flatbed.
  • This allows you to carry more in one go, reducing the need for multiple vehicle runs.

5. Transport and Deliver

  • Once loaded, drive the cargo truck to your destination (e.g., a recycling center or construction zone).

Why This Method Works

  • Saves time and fuel by eliminating the need for a second trip.
  • Makes full use of the heavy crane’s lifting power while still moving cargo efficiently.
  • Prevents awkward setups with two separate vehicles for heavy object transport.

By using the heavy crane to move a cargo truck into position, you unlock a much more efficient transport method in RoadCraft. It’s a simple trick that can make your logistics flow smoother, especially in demanding areas like the Sunken map.
