How To Unlock The Assassin’s Outfit In AC Shadows

Assassin’s Creed Shadows offers more than just thrilling gameplay, it lets you fully step into the shoes of a true assassin with a range of legendary-looking outfits for Naoe. Whether you’re aiming for stealth, power, or pure style, there are three unique assassin gear sets hidden across the world, each with its own identity and flair. From the sleek black Initiate Assassin Set to the iconic white Apprentice Assassin Set, and finally, the powerful red Master Assassin Gear, each ensemble transforms Naoe into a shadowy force to be reckoned with. In this guide, we’ll break down where to find each piece, how to unlock them, and even how to roll for the best stats to take your gear from great to god-tier. Let’s get started on your journey to becoming the ultimate assassin.

How To Unlock The Assassin’s Outfit

There are three stunning, legendary-looking outfits you can find for Naoe that make her look like a true assassin in the shadows. Among them is the fan-favorite white assassin outfit, an iconic look that stands out immediately. All of these outfits are well hidden throughout the world, but this guide will show you exactly how to find each one and even how to enhance them beyond their legendary status. Let’s get into it.

The Initiate Assassin Set

What makes this set unique is that the hood and the armor pieces are located in different places, unlike the other two sets. This set gives your character a sleek, blacked-out assassin look that’s both stylish and intimidating. The easiest way to grab it early on is to head to the Yamashiro region and unlock the Yamazaki fast travel point. From there, look northwest toward the Eagle Nest region. You’ll see a question mark on the map, this leads you to the Path of Bravery.

Follow the yellow paint markings and fabric strips through the parkour path to help you stay on track. Be cautious at one particular slide, missing it means you won’t be able to reach the end. If all goes well, you’ll find a chest at the end, and inside is Hibiki’s Gear. Before opening it, make sure to manually save your game.

The gear’s stats and engravings are randomized, and many rolls will be underwhelming. You can reload your save until you get a version that perfectly suits your build. For example, we managed to get one with +600% affliction buildup against vulnerable enemies, ideal for affliction-focused builds. Another great roll to watch for is +50% damage on your next hit after using an ability, which works for most builds.

Initiate Assassin Hood

To find the Initiate Assassin Hood, head to the Izumi Setsu region and locate the Senry Hills, between Amagazaki and Katano. There’s a place of interest there called Tonyyama Post Town, and west of it is a fast travel point called Koyama Ruins. Behind the ruins, you’ll spot another parkour path known as the Path of Valor

Follow the yellow markers and use your grappling hook to navigate it. This one’s easier than the last, just stick to the wall-hugging route. At the end, you’ll find a chest containing the Tamakichi Hood. Once unlocked, it also grants you the Initiate Assassin Hood cosmetic, which you can apply to any gear in the game.

The Apprentice Assassin Set

Next up is probably the most iconic: the Apprentice Assassin Set, the classic white gear. You can grab this entire set relatively early in the game in the Izumi Setsu region. You’ll need to visit a hidden tomb called the Old Kofun, or Tomb of the Ancients. However, you won’t be able to claim the full set until you’ve progressed a bit through Naoe’s questline, specifically, the Secrets of the Blade quest. Once unlocked, return to the tomb and use your Assassin’s Blade to open a previously inaccessible area.

Inside, you’ll begin investigating, picking up a book, examining an altar, and more. Eventually, you’ll unlock both the Apprentice Assassin Gear and Hood, epic-tier items. You can use the same save-scumming method mentioned earlier to roll for better stats. Plus, you’ll gain the white assassin cosmetic to use freely on other gear.

The black set

After obtaining this set, Naoe’s questline continues and leads to new objectives that help you farm better stat rolls for the black set via the Path of Shadows. Just follow the river downstream, and you’ll encounter not only environmental storytelling but also another chest that drops Yoshian gear. You may get included +60% faster damage on next hit, a beastly bonus.

You’ll also come across another parkour called the Path of the Chosen, which takes you along the coastline. While you can attempt it early, be warned: it ends with a level 47 boss fight. If you’re under-leveled, it is recommended using a strong katana build.. After the boss, you’ll also have a chance at finding a powerful epic like the Yoshin Hood.

The red-colored variant

Finally, there’s the Master Assassin’s Gear, the red-colored variant of the assassin sets. This one only unlocks after you’ve completed the main storyline and defeated all the Shin Bakufu leaders. Once that’s done, you’ll receive a quest called Out of the Shadows, which brings you back to your hideout in the Izumi Setsu region. After a brief conversation with some characters, you’ll receive the master gear as a reward.

By the time you unlock it, you’ll likely already have the more visually striking black and white sets, pairing those with accessories like the racked peasant hat creates some of the most stunning looks in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
