How to Unlock Chapter 4 Secret Area in Black Myth: Wukong

In Black Myth: Wukong, Chapter 4 hides a secret area that many players miss on their first run. To unlock it, you’ll need to track down and defeat a powerful enemy called the Venom Daoist. This isn’t a straightforward fight. He escapes after your first encounter, so you’ll have to chase him down in a second location before the path to the hidden area opens up. Here’s a guide on how to find him, beat him, and reach this secret part of the game.

How to Unlock Chapter 4 Secret Area

To access this hidden location, you’ll first have to defeat the Venom Daoist. The challenge of this battle lies in the fact that it occurs in two stages, two different locations he’ll flee from when you begin to gain the upper hand the first time.

First Encounter

Begin from the Pool of Shattered Jade Shrine in Chapter 4 (The Webbed Hollow). Follow the right path of the shrine through all the cocoons hanging down from above. Follow it until you find its end. You will see him hanging upside down in a cocoon. He will drop down, say a few words, and then attack. He is easy to beat and uses two swords, regularly dashing forward with swift slashes and combos. Don’t bother killing him if you can’t; he’ll run away when he begins to lose.

Second encounter

Now go to the Court of Illumination Shrine in the Temple of Yellow Flowers. Go through the door with stairs leading down from there. If you notice two yellow‑robed guards around, you’re on the right path. Continue down the path directly in front of you, go through the gate at the end of the courtyard, ascend up the mountain, and turn left twice.

This will lead you to a large hollow where the Venom Daoist is standing. He’ll speak again shortly before the battle begins, and once more, he’s aggressive and quick so keep your guard up. Beat him this time, and you’ll gain access to the Purple Cloud Mountain region. Be sure to check every inch of this new area out. Don’t leave until you’ve defeated the final boss here it’s necessary if you want to find additional secrets later on.
