How to ‘Suppress Enemies With LMGs’ (Weapon Assignment Challenge Bullet Storm) – Battlefield 6

The Bullet Storm weapon assignment in Battlefield 6 has one of the more challenging challenges on the list — “Suppress enemies with LMGs.” It is easy enough to understand what’s being asked, but the game never clarifies what “suppression” is or how to work toward it.

Here’s an easy explanation of what suppression really is, how it works, and how to complete this challenge effectively.

What Suppression Is in Battlefield 6

Suppression isn’t damage — it’s pressure. When players shoot bullets close enough to a player, they become “suppressed.” It doesn’t damage them, but it prevents their health regeneration while they’re still being fired upon.

You’ll recognize you’re suppressing when little “whoosh” symbols appear close to the middle of your screen, slightly to the left of the crosshair.

When suppressing, you’ll notice “Enemy Suppression” appear after firing close to enemies.

Briefly, suppression = bullets flying close by without hitting. It’s a mechanic that rewards holding down enemies and preventing them from healing, even if you’re not getting kills.

    How to Actually Suppress Enemies

Here’s where it gets counterintuitive — to complete this challenge, you’ll need to miss on purpose.

The game counts suppression when your bullets pass within roughly five meters of an enemy without hitting them. That means shots whizzing past, hitting cover near them, or tearing up the ground beside them all count. Hitting your target doesn’t.

    So to earn suppression credit:

    • Fire near enemies, not directly at them.
    • Spray along the borders of cover, doors, or lanes that the enemy is engaging fights in.
    • Utilize long bursts to build sustained pressure — the closer your rounds travel, the better.
    • Suppressing still works even if you can’t see the target, so long as your shots pass close enough on the opposite side of cover.

You need 300 suppressions with LMGs to complete the Bullet Storm objective, so patience and sustained fire matter more than accuracy here.

Best Way to Farm Suppression (Game Modes and Setup)

The easiest place to grind suppression is Breakthrough, ideally while defending. You’ll have predictable enemy movement, plenty of cover angles to fire around, and time to settle into position.

    Here’s how to set up:

    • Select a light machine gun with high magazine capacity and good zoom scope.
    • Fit FMJ rounds if they are available — they cause your rounds to go through cover and still count as suppression.
    • Get a position that looks over a crowded lane or chokepoint.
    • Blind fire controlled bursts around groups of foes — close enough to get them to duck, but not direct fire.

You can also look into custom Portal servers built for weapon assignments. Some community modes make farming suppression easier with faster respawns or boosted ammo counts.

With time, you’ll start to see progress inching upward from 0 to 300 suppressions. It’s a slow grind, but steady.

Completing the suppression challenge — and the associated hip-fire damage challenge — releases the KTS100 MK8 LMG, a heavy hitter in the Support ranks. It’s not quite at the top tier of the game’s best LMGs, but it’s a balanced all-rounder once unlocked.
