In Borderlands 4, you’ll face a choice during the Ripping Room fight with Driller Hole saving Quent or letting him die. This part can be diificult since you only have 60 seconds to act, and missing it means Quent won’t make it. This guide explains step-by-step how to save him, what happens if you fail, and the consequences of both outcomes.
How to Save Quent

After you beat Driller Hole in the Ripping Room, you’ll have just 60 seconds to rescue Quent before he’s killed. To save him, grab your grapple hook and start pulling the 5 levers placed around the circular platform. Look up and follow the platform around so you don’t miss any.

Once all 5 levers are pulled, turn your attention to the central pillar. You’ll see 3 pipes connected to it shoot them until they break. If you manage to destroy all the pipes after hitting the levers, Quent will be freed and spared from being turned into a Ripper.
But if the timer runs out, Quent dies in the machine. Zane reacts with anger and grief, but that’s about it. There’s no change to the rewards whether Quent lives or dies but it’s worth saving him. He’s a decent guy who doesn’t deserve that fate, and it just feels better to keep him alive.
Saving Quent Consequences
If you manage to save Quent, he survives, and the entire group feels a sense of relief. Zane reassures him with a warm, “That’s right, me boyo. You’re safe.” Both Levaine and your character also share in that relief, with the dialogue reflecting their collective sense of comfort and gratitude.
The key difference between saving Quent and losing him is mostly in the tone of the dialogue. Saving him keeps the mood hopeful and supportive, whereas losing him shifts the atmosphere entirely.
