Celsus is one of the characters you can recruit early in Octopath Traveler 0, and he’s a great addition if you want a fast, evasive fighter on your team. He may be a thief by trade, but he’s loyal, skilled, and surprisingly devoted to his faith. How to Recruit Celsus
Once you start the first chapter of the main story, make your way to Valore, which is located in the southwest part of the starting map. When you enter the town for the first time, keep going west into the next area. From there, continue heading west until you reach the pub at the far edge of town.
You can find Celsus here. He’ll ask you a couple of questions like “Is faith important to you?” and “Why do you want to hire Celsus?” Don’t worry too much about your answers; none of the choices affect the outcome. No matter what you pick, Celsus will happily join your party.
Celsus in Octopath Traveler 0
Celsus is a thief who now works as a bodyguard in Valore. He’s incredibly skilled with a knife, easily one of the best you’ll meet. Despite his rough job, he’s deeply religious and never misses a day of prayer.
As you unlock his support skills, he becomes even more useful in battle. One of his early abilities helps your party escape from fights more easily. Later on, he gains a boost to his Evasion, letting him dodge attacks more often. He also learns a skill that restores a bit of his HP every turn, which helps him stay in the fight longer. Eventually, he gains a chance to automatically dodge incoming physical attacks at the start of each turn.
His ultimate move, Master of Evasion, makes enemies focus their attacks on him while also giving him the power to slip away from their strikes for several turns, making him an excellent distraction and frontline dodger for the team.
