How to Recharge Enchanted Magical Items in Oblivion Remastered

In Oblivion Remastered, enchanted weapons are incredibly powerful, but they don’t stay charged forever. After a while, their magic will run out, leaving you with just a regular weapon. There are a few easy ways to recharge your magical items and get them back to full power. In this guide, we’ll walk you through all the different methods you can use to keep your enchanted gear recharged.

How To Recharge Enchanted Magical Items

When a magical item runs out of charges, it basically becomes useless like a staff that can’t cast spells anymore or it just works like a normal, unenchanted weapon if it’s something like a sword. To get your weapon’s magic power back, you’ll need to recharge it. In Oblivion Remastered, there are three main ways to recharge your enchanted weapons:

  • Using a merchant’s recharge services
  • Using soul gems
  • Using Varla Stones

Using a merchant’s recharge services

You can pay a recharger at a Mages Guild Hall or the Arcane University to recharge your weapon for you. These rechargers are often also shopkeepers or trainers. Getting your weapon recharged this way can be really expensive.

Using soul gems

Some merchants do sell filled Soul Gems, but they’re usually pretty expensive. It’s much cheaper to buy empty ones and fill them yourself. All you need to do is carry some empty Soul Gems in your inventory, cast a Soultrap spell on an enemy, and then kill them. If you don’t have a Soultrap spell yet, you can buy one at a Mages Guild Hall. Just remember: stronger enemies need bigger Soul Gems.

Once you’ve trapped a soul, you can use that filled Soul Gem to recharge a weapon. To do this, open your inventory, select the Soul Gem you want to use, pick the item you want to refill, and hit “Recharge.” Just know that each Soul Gem can only be used once.

Using Varla Stones

Varla Stones are very useful because they can recharge all the enchanted weapons in your inventory at once. Unlike Soul Gems, which only refill one weapon at a time, a single Varla Stone will restore the enchantments on everything you’re carrying.

This makes them perfect if you have a bunch of enchanted weapons and don’t want to waste time using Soul Gems one by one. To use a Varla Stone, just double-click it in your inventory it’ll bring up a menu showing all the items you can recharge.

You’ll usually find Varla Stones inside Ayleid Ruins. A lot of them are kept in locked cages, which you’ll have to open by finding and hitting a switch. Some are placed on high pedestals that are hard to reach but if you have a high Acrobatics skill, you can jump to them, or you can shoot them down with arrows or spells.
