How to find The Sacred Sword
The Sacred Sword is the most powerful weapon in the game. It’s not just essential for story progression, but also useful in combat. Unlocking it requires multiple steps and can only be done after completing your first playthrough.
To begin, you must first finish the game once and earn the Coming Home to Roost ending. This unlocks New Game+, where the previously locked house becomes accessible. Inside this house, explore until you find a key in the upstairs bedroom. This key unlocks several chests around the house, including the chest containing the stone statue.
All Jizo statues
You need to find and interact with five Jizo statues located around Ebisugaoka. Each Jizo statue requires a specific offering, and you can only collect these items across multiple visits in New Game+. The locations and offerings are as follows:

Once all five offerings have been placed at the respective statues, head to the small shrine southwest of Shu’s house, just west of Ebisugaoka Middle School. Beneath the ancient cedar tree there, the Sacred Sword will finally appear, ready to be claimed.
How to Purify The Sacred Sword
To purify the sword, you will need the Brooch that you receive near the end of your first playthrough. Once you have it, and after completing the third and final ritual, you will be able to access a secret room located above. This hidden area is important not just for the story but also if you’re aiming for Ending 2, as it is where you can collect the Agura no Hotei-sama.
Crimson Water puzzle
Here, you will find the Crimson Water puzzle. To purify the sword, you need to solve this puzzle by ringing a set of bells. Every time the shishi-odoshi, fills up and drops with a loud clack, you need to ring the bells in a specific order. The correct order is: Earth, then Water, and then Wood. If this is done correctly, the water will turn red.
Once the water turns red, head back to the Sacred Tree. There, you can purify it using the stone trough. The purification only needs to be done once, and the change will carry over into all your future playthroughs.
