Rook is one of the most unique shells you can play in Marathon. This shell is designed for scavenging, stealth, and survival. Instead of fighting the battles, your main goal is to enter the map, collect valuable loot, and safely extract before anyone tries to kill you. Rook doesn’t focus on fighting enemies and completing objectives. In this guide, we will show you how to play Rook in the Marathon.
How to Play Rook

Rook is the scavenger of the game. Your goal is to dominate the fights when there is chaos created by other players. Many players use Rook to earn money, collect gear from other shells, and recover after losing equipment in the previous matches.
Rook can only be played solo, and you cannot make a team with your friends when using this shell. You will usually join matches already in progress, so other teams will be fighting or exploring the map. The Rook cannot bring any saved gear or loadouts into a match; instead, you start with a basic starter kit and collect different equipment.
Rook’s Abilities

Recuperation: This ability activates as an emergency repair system that slowly restores your health.
Signal Mask: This ability allows you to temporarily disguise yourself from AI enemies and drones. AI enemies will treat you as a friendly unit, and you can easily walk through the petrol areas without being attacked. However, this doesn’t hide you from other players, as enemies can still see or attack you.
Tips and Strategies for Playing Rook
As you will join matches already in progress, you should know where the valuable loot is before you enter the map. Avoid active fights and let other teams kill each other before visiting the area and collecting the loot. Activate the signal mask before entering AI patrol zones to move through safely and use the time to observe the area and plan your next move.
If you find valuable items, it is better to extract them early rather than lose everything. You should be playing with Rook if you recently lost a lot of gear, farm items with low risk, and are new to the map. There is no cooldown for playing Rook, and you can start another run immediately after you die or extract successfully.
