How To Plant and Defuse The Converter in FragPunk

In FragPunk’s Shard Clash mode, mastering the Converter is crucial for victory. Whether planting it as an attacker or defusing it as a defender, strategic timing, Shard Cards, and Lancer abilities play a key role. This guide will walk you through the exact steps to successfully plant and defuse the Converter.

How to Plant and Defuse the Converter

In FragPunk’s Shard Clash mode, both teams have distinct win conditions. The Attacking team can win by either eliminating all Defenders or planting and successfully detonating the Converter. Meanwhile, the Defending team must stop them—either by preventing the Converter from being planted or defusing it after placement.

Planting the Converter (Attackers)

At the start of each round, one Attacker must pick up the Converter, a limited resource that makes them a priority target. The team’s objective is to reach A Site or B Site, both marked on the map, and plant the Converter.

To plant, the player carrying the Converter must hold the assigned button while standing at the site:

  • Default controls:
  • Controller: Down on the D-Pad
  • Keyboard: “4” (customizable in settings)

Once planted, the Converter starts a 50-second countdown. Attackers must protect it while preventing Defenders from initiating a defusal. If the Converter detonates successfully, or if all Defenders are eliminated, the Attackers win the round.

Defusing the Converter (Defenders)

Defenders must prevent the plant by eliminating the Attackers early. If the Converter is placed, all Defenders receive a HUD alert with a 50-second timer and its exact location.

To defuse, a Defender must be near the Converter and hold the assigned button:

  • Default controls:
  • Controller: Down on the D-Pad
  • Keyboard: “4”

Unlike the Attackers, eliminating all enemies after the Converter is planted won’t end the round. The Defenders must defuse it before the countdown expires to secure victory. If they succeed, they win the round.

Mastering these mechanics is essential for both teams. Attackers must strategize to plant and defend the Converter, while Defenders must act quickly to prevent or defuse it.
