In Where Winds Meet, Signposts give you a way to leave personalized notes, images, or emotes in the world for other players to see while they play. You might want to mark an important location, leave behind an important hint, or even just add a little flare to the environment. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about signposts, whether it’s how to place them, how to get more signposts, or how to gather materials to make them.
Placing a Signpost
Once you’re ready to put down a signpost, go to the exact location you want your signpost to stand and move your character into that location. After you do that, you can access your Bag by pressing B, and navigate to the items section under Common, where any unused signposts are located. Select a signpost, and once prompted by the game, simply confirm placement. The game will then show you a small setup panel on screen with a range of fields to customize:
- Image (optional): You can either snap a picture while placing the signpost or attach one of your in-game screenshots.
- Message: A short line (up to 60 characters) that other players will read when they check your signpost.
- Appearance / Emote (optional): Pick one of the emotes you’ve already unlocked. Visitors can view it and use it themselves.
How to Get Signposts
You can get your hands on signposts in two ways. The straightforward option is to purchase them from any General Goods vendor. If you’d rather make them yourself, you can also craft signposts as long as you’ve collected the required materials.
Crafting a signpost is simple and doesn’t require any kind of workstation. All you need are 2 Timber and 1 Raw Ore. Once you have those materials, open your Bag with B, select the Craft option at the bottom right, and move to the Manual tab, where the signpost recipe appears right at the top. If the ingredients are available, you can create as many signposts as you need.
Where to Find the Materials
Timber is gathered by cutting down trees with any weapon that has a blade, making it one of the easier materials to collect. Raw Ore, on the other hand, is obtained from the various ore deposits scattered around the world.
If you’re having trouble locating them, open your Map and use the Herb filter, then switch to Stones and select the specific ore you’re looking for. The game will mark every spot you’ve already discovered for that ore type, making it much simpler to track down.
Each signpost you make uses 1 Stamina, and your character regains 450 Stamina daily.
