How to Open The Castle Leyawiin Basement Secret Passage in Ahdarji’s Heirloom – Oblivion Remastered

In Oblivion Remastered, the Ahdarji’s Heirloom quest will put you through stealth and intrigue while recovering a stolen ring. From sneaking into Castle Leyawiin’s secret passage to confronting Amusei’s betrayal. This guide walks you through all the possible dilemmas that’ll come your way and gives you a better insight on how to get the quest done and get that reward!

Starting the Ahdarji’s Heirloom Quest

Go to Bravil and find Doyen S’Krivva. Here, you will learn that the Khajiit Ahdarji-former guild member and a widow has been victimized by the theft of her ring. The ring in itself does not pertain to the guild nor its members, yet S’Krivva will use the matter to ask you to retrieve the ring for the sake of the guild’s integrity.

Find and Speak to Ahdarji

Next, you’ll need to find Ahdarji and speak to her. Ask a beggar in Leyawiin about Ahdarji’s whereabouts and they’ll incorrectly mention she lives on the west side of town when she actually lives on the east. She often visits the Three Sisters’ Inn in the evening and has lunch at the Five Claws Lodge, you can track her down at one of those locations.

Upon meeting her, she will tell you that the ring was taken by Amusei (yes, that guy again). She wants you to kill him, but since he’s essential to the story until a later quest, that’s won’t be possible. She settles for asking you to make him suffer.

Remember: If you’re planning to complete all parts of this quest, make sure to carry at least one lockpick, which you’ll eventually need to give away. You’ll also encounter multiple locked doors, a chest, and a jewelry box. You can deal with them using your preferred methods, whether that’s lockpicking, spells, or stealing up to five different keys: one for the dungeon, one for the secret passage, one for interior castle doors, one for the bedroom, and one for the jewelry box.

Find Amusei

To find Amusei, you’ll need to speak to another beggar and pay for information. You’ll learn that Amusei was arrested after trying to scam Alessia Caro, the Countess of Leyawiin. Guards can easily be bribed to allow prisoner visits. Go to the castle dungeon and offer the jailor 20 gold, or alternatively, pick the lock or steal his key. Once inside, Amusei will only talk if you bribe him with a lockpick. He admits the ring originally belonged to the Countess and that he was caught trying to ransom it back to Ahdarji. The ring is now with the Countess.

After the encounter, return to Ahdarji and inform her that Amusei tried to ransom the ring. She reveals she wants it for herself and promises to pay double if you steal it back.

Speak to a beggar again, and they’ll suggest talking to Hlidara Mothril, the Countess’ handmaiden. They’ll also mention a hidden torture chamber in the castle used on Argonians. Hlidara will reveal the Countess’ schedule at a disposition of 60, how she’s away from the 15th to 17th each month. At a disposition of 70, she will share that the Countess only removes the ring when bathing or sleeping, keeping it in a jewelry box beside her bed. She will also mention a secret passage that connects the torture chamber to the Countess’ quarters.

Infiltrating the Castle Leyawiin

You’ll have to wait until around 1 a.m. to sneak into the private quarters. Go to the castle’s basement where you’re supposed to find an open barrel with a lever inside, pull it to reveal the secret passage, then, pull a second hidden lever to proceed. You’ll need to pick a lock (or steal a key from the Count or Caelia Draconis), then sneak past a patrolling guard. Pick the lock on the private chamber door or enter through the County Hall, though that route has more guards.

Once, you’re inside the Countess’ room, unlock the jewelry box or steal the key from her, take the ring, and grab some extra loot like the “Divining the Elder Scrolls” letter worth 50 gold. Exit from the way you came and be careful to avoid the guards.

Finishing the Quest

Finally, give the ring to Ahdarji. If you tell her Amusei tried to ransom it, she will  reward you with 200 gold. If not, you only get 100. Report back to S’Krivva to receive another 200 gold, a promotion to Prowler, and your next assignment.
