If you’re diving into crafting in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, wool thread is one of the first things you’ll need. It plays a big role in building key crafting stations like the loom, so getting to know of how to make it early on will save you a lot of time later. This guide covers everything you need to know, from gathering materials like fleece and soft animal fur to building your own spinning wheel and turning those raw resources into useful thread.
How to Make Wool Thread
To make wool thread, you’ll need fleece and soft animal fur. Just pop them into a spinning wheel to get started. Three pieces of soft animal fur will give you two wool threads, while one fleece makes one thread.
How to Get Fleece and Soft Animal Fur
You can find fleece and soft animal fur by hunting creatures in the Fractured Plains and Stormtouched Highlands. Sheep and rams drop fleece, while wolves drop soft animal fur. These creatures show up pretty often in both areas.
Out of the three, sheep are by far the easiest to farm. They’re level-one creatures they don’t run away when you get close. That makes it easy to walk up and take them out with a few quick hits or shots.
Wolves and rams are a bit tougher, but still manageable. Wolves have a slight delay before they attack, which gives you time to block or dodge. They only get tricky when there are a bunch of them around, but some well-placed blocks or magic spells can help you take control of the fight.
Rams are slower than wolves, so you can usually pick them off from a distance without much trouble. You’ll often find sheep nearby too, so it’s a great chance to farm fleece while you’re at it.
How to Get Spinning Wheel
The Spinning Wheel is a crafting station you can build using the following materials:
- 12 Ash Logs
- 4 Flax
- 2 Stone
You’ll probably already have the Ash Logs and Stone in your inventory, but you might need to go out and gather some Flax. Fortunately, Bramblemead Valley is a great spot for it you’ll find plenty growing around the ruins of an old town. Just keep an eye out for small blue flowers scattered across grassy areas.
Once you’ve got everything, you’ll need to place your Spinning Wheel under a roof. This could be at your base or any roofed structure you find in the world. You don’t need to build a full house just a small covered area is enough to get it up and running.
How to Use Fleece and Soft Animal Fur
One of the first key uses for wool thread is crafting a loom. To build it, you’ll need the following materials:
- 22 Ash Planks
- 4 Bronze Bars
- 6 Wool Thread
Each of these requires a different crafting station. You’ll make ash planks at a sawmill, and bronze bars at a furnace by smelting copper and tin. Luckily, you can find everything you need in the areas between Temple Woods and the Fractured Plains, so gathering the materials shouldn’t be too much of a hassle.
