As you enter the swamp, you’ll notice a misty landscape dotted with resources like Buttercap Mushrooms, Marrentill, and clay. Swamp Tar appears in clusters near the edges of the water, making it easy to gather large amounts once you’ve located your first patches. Fortunately, this resource is abundant and replenishes, so you won’t have to worry about it running out. Be sure to grab some clay too, as it’s essential for using the Kiln.

After gathering some Swamp Tar from the Whispering Swamp, the next step is to use a Kiln to turn it into adhesive, along with a bit of fuel. To construct a Kiln, you’ll need the following materials:

Ash Logs and stones are common resources that you’ve likely already come across in areas like Temple Woods and Bramblemead Valley. While crafting a Lodestone can help speed up travel between these regions, it’s not essential if you don’t mind going on foot.
Clay, which looks like brown lumps, can also be found in the Whispering Swamp. Although it spawns frequently like stone, the heavy fog in the area can make it hard to see. Placing a few torches around the area can make locating these resources easier.
The most difficult material to obtain is the Fire Rune. You’ll need level 13 in Runecrafting to create them at a Rune Altar.
