In The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, you can join the Thieves Guild without going to jail. You just need to follow the right steps and talk to the right people. How to Join The Thieves Guild without being Jailed

Joining the Thieves Guild in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion can be simple if you know where to look. Here’s a step-by-step guide that makes it easy.

Check Out the Gray Fox Wanted Posters

Start by exploring the Imperial City and look for wanted posters featuring the mysterious Gray Fox. After checking one out, talk to a city guard and ask them about the Gray Fox. Keep asking different guards until one of them mentions:
“The beggars love him, especially in the Waterfront.”

That is your clue to find the location of Gray Fox.

Talk to a Beggar in the Waterfront

Head over to the Waterfront District and find Puny Ancus, a beggar. To get him to talk, you’ll need to raise his disposition use bribe or persuade him until it’s above 80. Once he’s friendly enough, he’ll admit he knows the Gray Fox and mention a place where you can find him.

Go to the Garden of Dareloth at Midnight

Agree to the option to know more about Gray Fox:
“Yes. I want to work with him.”

You will be told to go to the Garden of Dareloth at midnight. When you arrive, wait for a man named Armand Christophe to show up. Talk to him about the Gray Fox. Again, make sure his disposition is at least 60 bribe him if needed so that he will let you join.

Complete the “May the Best Thief Win” Quest

Armand will give you a little test a quest called May the Best Thief Win. It’s a race between you and two other thieves to steal a specific diary. Run as fast as you can to Amantius Allectus’ House in the Temple District. The diary you need is inside, in a desk. Take it before the others want it. Once you have the diary, head back to the Garden of Dareloth at midnight again and give it to Armand Christophe. Then he will officially join you as a member of the Thieves Guild.
