The update adds new biomes, mechanics, and plenty of quirky collectibles to PEAK with ROOTS, including a surprisingly fun addition: Hot Dogs. These new consumables come with their own challenge that will reward players with the Competitive Eating Badge and the coveted Beer Hat cosmetic for proving themselves the fastest eater on the mountain.
If you are wondering how to pull this off, here’s everything you need to know about finding Hot Dogs and earning the Competitive Eating Badge in PEAK.
What is the Competitive Eating Badge in PEAK?

The Competitive Eating Badge is a new achievement that was added in the ROOTS update. You will have to eat three Hot Dogs in five seconds, which is more difficult than it sounds. You can do this solo or in co-op, though it’s way simpler when you are in multiplayer, since there are more spawn chances for Hot Dogs.
As a reward for completing it, you’ll unlock not only the badge but also the cosmetic Beer Hat, showing off your questionable but impressive eating skills.
How to Eat 3 Hot Dogs in 5 Seconds in PEAK
Multiplayer Method (Easiest Way)

Playing with a team is the best way to complete this achievement. Once you reach the Campfire at the top of each biome, there’s a random chance that Hot Dogs will spawn as campfire snacks.
If you’re in a group of three or four, this means that multiple Hot Dogs can appear at once, perfect for completing the badge in one go.
To make it work smoothly:
- Make sure your inventory is empty before the attempt.
- Collect the three Hot Dogs.
- Hold the interact button and switch through all of them in your hotbar to eat them in quick succession.
If you’re unlucky and get Marshmallows, stash any Hot Dogs you find in your Backpack and continue to the next biome’s Campfire until you have at least three. Once you have collected three Hot Dogs, you can try the challenge again at the next checkpoint, Campfire.
Solo Method (Harder but Doable)

Competitive Eating Badge requires more patience for solo players. To make things easier, start your climb on Tenderfoot difficulty to reduce environmental strain.
- Start in the Shore biome and ascend normally, then check the Campfire snack.
- If it’s a Hot Dog, don’t eat it; put it in your Backpack.
- If it’s a Marshmallow, then restart the level until you find one.
- Continue through the Tropics, via ROOTS, up into Alpine or Mesa, making stops at every Campfire to find another Hot Dog.
- You aim to collect three Hot Dogs from three different Campfires.
Keep in mind that the Hot Dog spawn is RNG-based, meaning you’ll need to restart a few runs to get lucky. Between Campfires, bring Trail Mix, Airline Food, or fruits and mushrooms to avoid starvation.
Once you have collected three Hot Dogs, equip them in your hotbar and eat the three back-to-back as quickly as possible. You should see the Competitive Eating Badge unlock if everything is done correctly; your Beer Hat will now be available in cosmetic inventory.
