Heartstrings is an undisclosed side quest that players must complete to obtain the best bow in RuneScape Dragonwilds–the famed Crystal Bow. This guide will walk you through the required steps to help you unlock the best bow in the game!
What is the Crystal Bow in RuneScape Dragonwilds?
Like the Staff of Light, Abyssal Whip, and Anti-Dragon Shield, the Crystal Bow is considered one of the Masterwork weapons in the game. It wields a Power Level of 3, standing out with great stats and the unique ability of Shattershot. This bow is generally regarded as one of the finest for a Ranger build.
However, acquiring the Crystal Bow isn’t straightforward, it requires completing the Heartstrings quest, which is far more challenging than it first appears.
How to Unlock the Heartstrings Side Quest
To begin the quest, interact with the elven gravesite located near a giant blue tree found at the peak marked in the Fractured Plains region.
Head to the marked location. Build platforms and stairs to reach the peak, as there’s no direct path. At the top, locate the giant blue tree. Next to the tree is a gravesite—interact with it and exhaust the dialogues to activate the Heartstrings quest.
All Blue Tree and Memorial Locations in Heartstrings Side Quest
The main objective of the quest is to follow the trail of blue trees and elven memorials east of Ghormfell to discover a harmonious weapon.
There are a total of seven blue trees, each with an elven memorial at its base. They must be visited and activated in the correct order. If defeated before completing the sequence, progress resets and must be restarted from the first tree.
All Blue Tree Locations
Blue Tree 1
This is the starting point, where the quest is triggered.
Blue Tree 2
Located east of the first tree on an elevated area. Interact with the memorial and proceed.
Tip: Gather Anima-Infused Bark near the blue trees—it’s essential for crafting the Crystal Bow.
Blue Tree 3
Found further east of Tree 2, easily spotted by following the main path.
Blue Tree 4
Continue to the marked location, ensuring no nearby enemies. Interact with the memorial.
Blue Tree 5
Inside a decayed structure guarded by a Shaman and two Berserkers. Either defeat or distract them before interacting with the memorial.
Blue Tree 6
Located north of Tree 5. Interact and exhaust the dialogue as before.
Blue Tree 7
Northwest of Tree 6 and distinct from the others. Interact with the memorial to receive two choices:
- Sing the bard’s song of remembrance
- Step away
Choose the first option. If the previous memorials were activated in order, the quest will complete.

Completing the Heartstrings quest rewards:

- Crafting recipe for the bow
