The Royal Spectre is one of the strongest and rarest items you can find in Blue Prince, but getting it isn’t easy. You’ll need to find a special room called the Treasure Trove, solve tricky puzzles, and collect hidden clues. This guide will walk you through each step, from unlocking the Treasure Trove, finding secret memos, getting the Key of Aries, and finally opening the chest that holds the Royal Spectre.
How to get Royal Spectre
The Treasure Trove isn’t available from the start it’s actually a Found Floorplan. You’ll need to track down its blueprint, which is hidden deep in the Underground. Look for it in the upper part of the Rotating Gear, just past the sealed Red Door. Once you unlock it, you’ll notice its base effect: you earn +5 gold every time you draft the Treasure Trove. So the more you draft it during your runs, the more coins it ends up holding. As for its secret, the hint comes from a chest that can be opened with any regular key.
Besides the growing pile of gold, the Treasure Trove in Blue Prince also has a locked chest. If you use a key to open it, you’ll find a collection of colorful notes, each marked with different symbols. These memos contain all sorts of messages, some claim certain colors or symbols always tell the truth, while others contradict them, saying some notes are actually false.
The one message you can fully trust comes from the blue memo, but it only shows up under specific conditions:
- You must have unlocked the Blue Tents from the Gift Shop.
- You need to draft the Treasure Trove into rank 8 of the house, that’s one row below the Antechamber.
If both conditions are met, a blue memo will appear inside the chest. It reads:
“All boxes marked by the sun symbol contain memos that are true.”
Interestingly, one of those sun-marked memos leads you to another line:
“The true treasure of the Treasure Trove is not in this house.”
Play through your run as usual until you get the chance to place the Treasure Trove inside the manor. If you have the Blessing of the Monk active, make sure to end your day while you’re inside the Treasure Trove.
How to Get the Key of Aries
The following day, the Treasure Trove will show up as an option for an outer room. When you enter, you’ll spot all the gold scattered around, along with a strange new chest that wasn’t there before. To open this secret chest, though, you’ll need a special item: the Key of Aries.
Getting this key is part of a longer quest. Here’s a quick breakdown:
- In the Chess Puzzle area, break through a specific wall to reveal a cipher with the word CASTLE.
- You’ll then need to perform a “castle move” using powers tied to the Rook and the King either Rook first, then King, or the other way around. This unlocks a hidden path to an underground crypt.
- Once inside the crypt, wait until 1:30 p.m. in-game. At that time, a giant clock mechanism will appear.
- Use the clues from the CASTLE cipher to solve the mechanism’s puzzle. When you do, a small compartment will open and inside it is the Key of Aries.
That key’s what you need to unlock the Treasure Trove’s hidden chest. Once you’ve got the Key of Aries from the crypt, take it back to the Treasure Trove (as an outer room). With the key in hand, you’ll finally be able to unlock the sealed chest inside. The Royal Scepter, one of the most powerful items in Blue Prince.
