Needle Strike is a powerful charged attack in Hollow Knight: Silksong that lets Hornet deal heavy damage by holding down the attack button. However, you won’t get it right away, this ability only becomes available near the end of Act 1, after making your way through a tough area and defeating a challenging boss. In this guide, we will explain how to get the Needle Strike.
How to Get Needle Strike
To get Needle Strike you need to reach the Blasted Steps, then beat the Great Conchflies, and unlock the Needle Strike ability from the Pinstress.
Reach the Blasted Steps
First, you will need to go to an area called Blasted Steps, which is on the far left side of the map.
- Start from the Bellway Station in Shellwood.
- Head to the right, then drop all the way down.
- When you can go left, take that path.
- Keep going until you see a bench. Just before the bench, there’s a way to climb up, do that to unlock the nearby gate and connect it back to the Bellway Station.
- From this new bench, go left to enter Blasted Steps.
- Keep climbing up until you find the Blasted Steps Bellway Station and another bench. Sit on this bench.
Fight the Great Conchflies
Now, go back down the way you came, but this time glide to the left wall. Look for a blue sign pointing left, follow it, and you will enter a room with the Great Conchflies, your next boss fight.
Here you will fight two enemies at once. They both hit hard; each hit takes away two masks. They will drill into the ground and pop back up, so watch the dirt trails to see where they are about to appear.
One of them might also stop to fire a projectile, which you can either dodge or deflect. Once you defeat one of them, the other will flee, and the fight will end.
Get the Needle Strike
After the fight, continue heading left. You will have to cross a gap filled with worms and bounce across some bouncy balls at the end. Use them to reach a hut above you.
Inside the hut, you will meet a character called the Pinstress. Talk to her, and she will reward you with the Needle Strike ability. To use it, just hold down your attack button to charge up and unleash a powerful strike.
