If you want to see the secret ending in Deltarune Chapter 3, you will need to get three S-ranks in Tenna’s game show. If you do, a special door will open and lead you to a hidden minigame. Inside, you will find three important items: the Ice Key, the Shelter Key, and the Shadow Mantle. These help you unlock a secret boss fight and survive it. We will guide you step-by-step through what to do, where to go, and how to get each item.
How to Get Chapter 3 Secret Ending
To unlock the secret ending in Chapter 3 of Deltarune, you will need to earn three S-ranks during Tenna’s game show. Once you do that, a special door marked with an “S” will open. Three crucial items can be found in a hidden minigame behind it: the Shadow Mantle (after round three), the Shelter Key (after round two), and the Ice Key (after round one).
To get the Shadow Mantle, you will need the Ice key and the Shelter key. When you battle the Knight, the secret boss, you’ll need that. Without it, your team will be instantly knocked out by a one-hit move. With it, you will survive the battle and can land the final hit to claim your reward.
How to Play the Minigame
When the minigame starts, you play as Kris. First, aim to get an S-rank in the first round. This unlocks the “S” door in the top-right corner of the Green Room. Go through it and you will come across a broken-down dressing room, on the left is the entrance.
At first, you won’t be able to play it since there’s no controller. If you step out of the room, you will spot an Odd Controller on the floor. Pick it up and go back in to begin playing the original game.
If you didn’t earn an S-rank right away, you have two choices:
- Replay that part of the game until you get one.
- Or buy an S-rank for 1,500 points.
To buy it, exit the Green Room from the south and follow the hallway until you see a golden Tenna statue. Take the right turn there, and you will find the Point Merchant. Pay him 1,500 points and you’ll instantly unlock access to the S-room.
How to Get the Ice Key
In the first secret minigame, you will be playing only as Kris – no Susie or Ralsei will be with you. The map looks a lot like the one from the first round of the chapter, but this time, instead of just collecting points, your goal is to level up Kris so you can find the Ice Key.
At the start, Kris doesn’t have a sword. To get one, head south from the entrance until you see a pond with a fish. Then go left, down twice, right, and down again to find stairs leading to your sword.
Once you have your weapon, it’s time to fight! Defeat every enemy you see – fish, flowers, and the strange purple creatures – until Kris reaches Level 3. When you are at max level, go to the far east side of the map. You’ll see a long path with two cactuses. At this point, you will be strong enough to chop them down and explore further.
Keep going south, cutting trees in your way. After passing through a few more screens, you will eventually reach a treasure chest with the Ice Key inside. That is your first item needed for the secret ending and the boss.
How to Get the Shelter Key (Second Secret Minigame)
Now that you’ve got the Ice Key, return to Tenna’s game show and complete Round 2. To play this minigame, you will need to get an S-rank. If you don’t get it, you can again pay 1,500 points to the merchant near the golden Tenna statue to unlock the room.
Now when you are at the Green Room, go to the “Original” minigame. This time, the map has changed to match the one from the second round of Tenna’s game.
Like before, your goal is to level up Kris – but this time, you only need to reach Level 2. Start by going left across two screens, then head north along the river. You will find a cave with your sword. Grab it, then roam around, fighting enemies until you hit Level 2. That’s when you’ll be able to cut down ferns.
Now go to the pond with ferns and waterfall. Cut through the ferns and ride the raft up the waterfall. You will come out of a cave and take another raft ride northwest for a few screens.
After that, go west until you don’t see any more yellow-orange rocks at the top of your screen, then head north. When you spot white rocks in the water, turn left, then go west and north again. Look for a wooden platform, dock your raft, and run to the right.
When you see grey rocks on the right side of the screen, head north along the white rocks. You will find a fern blocking a cave – cut it down and go inside.
Inside, fight enemies until you’re close to Level 4. Eventually, you will run into a white creature with a hint: “The forbidden path began with ice magic.” Beat it to hit max level.
Now leave the cave, go to the central pond area, and head north. You will now be able to break bright orange barriers to find an Ice Mage. Use this mage to freeze enemies, push them onto blue buttons, and open doors to move through the dungeon.
Eventually, you will enter a four-way maze that looks never-ending. Here is the trick: walk a few tiles in one direction at each intersection. If the ice mage follows you, you’re going the right way. If not, turn back and try another path. Keep going until you reach the exit.
At the end, walk north into a room with a glowing light. Interact with it to get the Shelter Key – your second out of three important items.
How to Get the Shadow Mantle
Once you have both the Ice Key and Shelter Key, there is just one more item to collect – the Shadow Mantle, which you will get just before fighting the final boss. You will need it to survive the powerful attacks of the chapter’s secret boss: the Knight and after that you will get the secret ending.
