If you’re planning to grow shrooms in Schedule 1, you need to keep the temperature low. For that, you need to use AC units. Without proper cooling, your Mushroom Bed won’t work, and the spores may fail to grow. This guide walks you through everything you need to know about getting an AC unit in the game: where to buy it, how to use it correctly, and how to deal with the bug.
How to Get AC Units
To get the AC, head over to Dan’s Hardware and talk to Dan. Once you speak with him, you will be able to buy the AC. After that, place it close to where you plan to set up the Mushroom Bed, since that’s where the spores will grow. Make sure to set the AC to “Cool” so the room temperature drops to the right level for growing shrooms.
Dan’s Hardware
Dan’s Hardware is located in Northtown and is run by Dan Samwell. When you visit the shop for the first time and talk to Dan, you will get a special dialogue option. If you pick the second option, he will give you a Speed Grow item for free. The shop is open every day from 6 in the morning until 8 in the evening.
Bug in Dan’s Hardware
After taking the free sample, Dan’s Hardware may stay closed even though it is during normal opening hours between 6 AM and 6 PM. Try reloading the save once more, and you will find the shop finally open. This seems to be a bug in the beta version of the game. To fix this, go to the pizza shop next door and choose the option to summon Dan. He will come out of the pizza place and walk back to his hardware store, opening it as usual.
