How To Fuse Digimon in Digimon Story Time Stranger

Digimon Story: Time Stranger does more than level your partners, it offers combining and enhancing. There are numerous ways to fuse and upgrade your partners, including the strongest jumps from DNA Digivolutions (Jogress) which merges two Digimon into a single one, and Fusion Enhancements which allows you to absorb others to boost the stats. In this guide each method will be explained in detail so that you can optimize your strongest team without wasting time trying to experiment.

How DNA Digivolution Works

DNA Digivolution, which is more commonly referred to as Jogress Evolution, happens when two Digimon merge to create a stronger, single Digimon. There are two principal variations of Jogress Evolution in Time Stranger:

1. Temporary Battle Jogress

This particular type of Jogress is distinct in that it is only ever used in the context of battle. Two Digimon fuse for just a single turn. They each exhaust their actions in the process and then they perform one immensely powerful attack before returning to normal. The game never outright describes this feature — most players discover it through trial and error.

Certain Digimon have symbols next to some of their attacks, which act as a hint that they’re capable of triggering this kind of fusion. To activate it, the matching partner Digimon must also be part of your active lineup, not sitting in the reserves.

2. Permanent Jogress Evolution

Permanent Jogress happens through the Digivolution menu, where two Digimon permanently combine into one. The resulting Digimon starts again at level 1, but it inherits boosted potential and completely replaces its previous forms.

Examples of permanent fusions include:

  • Mastemon, formed by merging Angewomon and LadyDevimon
  • Omnimon, created from WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon
  • Examon, born from Slayerdramon and Breakdramon

These evolutions are some of the most powerful transformations in the game, and they require specific ranks and compatible personality types to unlock.

Fusion Enhancement

Aside from Jogress, the game features another system known as Fusion Enhancement, also referred to as Load Enhancement. Instead of creating a new Digimon, this process strengthens an existing one by absorbing others into it.

Every Digimon has a Talent stat that determines how high its level can go. By fusing additional Digimon into it, you raise both its stats and level cap, making it possible to reach the true potential required for late-game evolutions.

To perform a Fusion Enhancement, start by opening the Digivice menu and navigating to the Digimon tab. From there, select the Load Enhancement option. Choose the Digimon you wish to strengthen, then select one or more Digimon to use as enhancement materials. Once you confirm the fusion, the selected materials will be consumed, and your primary Digimon will become stronger.

The level cap per stage is 99, meaning you can fully raise a Digimon before evolving it into its next form. Stronger Digimon give greater experience and stat boosts when used as materials — for example, sacrificing a Champion or Ultimate Digimon gives a much higher bonus than using Rookies.

Keeping extra Digimon around specifically for Enhancement purposes is a good long-term strategy, since it becomes more valuable the further you progress in the story.

A Few Helpful Reminders

  • Personality compatibility is critical for unlocking certain Jogress evolutions.
  • The DigiFarm is your best tool for adjusting traits and speeding up progress.
  • Avoid releasing or deleting rare Digimon, as they may be required for advanced evolutions later.

Mastering these systems ensures your team stays strong and ready for every challenge Time Stranger throws your way, without wasting hours trying random combinations.
