How to Fix the Gas Leak in The Outer Worlds 2 Vanquishing the Vexing Vapors Quest

In the Vanquishing the Vexing Vapors quest in The Outer Worlds 2, you’ll need to fix a dangerous Zyranium gas leak inside the Primary Repair Hangar. The air here is toxic, so you’ll rely on your Gas-Energy Deflection Apparatus to stay alive while working. However, the shield only lasts for a short time or until it takes too much damage, so you’ll have to move quickly. This guide will walk you through each step to reach the control system, fix both leaks, and safely shut down the Zyranium flow.

How to Fix the Gas Leak in Vanquishing the Vexing Vapours Quest

Now that you’ve got the Gas-Energy Deflection Apparatus, you can finally enter the Primary Repair Hangar, which is full of Zyranium gas. Keep in mind the shield won’t last forever. It shuts down after a few seconds or if it takes too much Zyranium damage, so move fast.

    Step 1: Getting Inside

There are two ways to reach the Control System:

    • Option 1: Pass a Hack 2 skill check to open the way.
    • Option 2: Crawl through a vent located near the centre of the room.

Both routes lead to the same place, so if you can’t hack, just use the vent.

Step 2: Clear Out the Malfunctioning Drones

The next room has hostile drones flying around. Take them down while keeping an eye on your Zyranium exposure. Once the area’s clear, go through the door that leads into a gas-filled chamber.

Step 3: Operate the Control System Quickly

Inside the gas room, interact with the Zyranium Flow Control System. You’ll be taking damage while you’re in there, so act fast and select the options in this order:

    1. Seal Room & Vent Gas
    2. Access Flow Control Systems
    3. Check System Status
    4. Initiate Zyranium Flow Shutdown
    5. Query Conduit Locations

Once done, head out through the door on your right to fix those leaks.

    Fix the First Leak

After querying the conduit locations, open the door to your right. A Malfunctioning Dragoon Automech will attack, and deal with it first. Then, vault over the boxes on the east side to reach the higher level.

Jump across the broken yellow pipes to reach a small ledge with a ladder. Climb up to the second floor, open the only door there, and turn right. You’ll see the first leak. Interact with the conduit switch on the wall to repair the first leak.

    Fix the Second Leak

Turn around after fixing the first leak and go through the next door ahead, which leads to the building’s roof.

    • Vault over the boxes just outside.
    • Move through the Zyranium gas and vault over the pipes.
    • Turn left, jump over some boxes, and pass through a broken fence.
    • Jump across a gap, go through another broken fence, and drop down to continue.

Be ready, another Dragoon Automech is waiting below. Take it down. Once the Automech is destroyed, head to the far-right door. Inside, you’ll find the second conduit. Interact with it to repair the second leak.

    Shut Down the Zyranium Flow

After fixing both leaks, use the ladder nearby to drop down into a small vent system. Crawl through until you reach the room with the Flow Control System again. Access the terminal one more time and select “Initiate Zyranium Flow Shutdown” to completely stop the gas leak.

Decided that degrees were as useful as extra lives in a Mario game-totally unnecessary! I’m diving into the extravagant universe of my favourite game, Assassin’s Creed, which lets me roam the world without actually paying for plane tickets. Hodophile by nature and aspiring to get lost in Hang Sơn Đoòng cave in Vietnam someday!
