How to Fish in Throne and Liberty

While full of adventurous activities and collectible treasures, Throne and Liberty also has a quieter side. Fishing is another laid-back life activity where you can just sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery in a serene environment without constant combat and intense exploration.

You should first get a fishing rod and some baits before being ready to start your fishing adventures. With these essentials in hand, you’ll be ready to cast your line and catch a variety of fish. Not only will fishing provide you with a relaxing pastime, but it will also yield valuable resources that you can use for other in-game activities, such as cooking.

How to Unlock Fishing Rod in Throne and Liberty

One of the common-rarity rods that you will easily obtain in Throne and Liberty is the Bamboo Fishing Rod, ideal for using as the first one on your fishing journey.

Visit Coin Merchant

To obtain a Bamboo Fishing Rod without spending Contract Coins, simply progress through the Main Story Quests until you complete your first Contracts. Once you reach this point, visit the Contract Coin Merchant. While you can purchase the Bamboo Fishing Rod from them for 300 Contract Coins, there’s a much more affordable option. Speak to the NPC located across the street from the Contract Coin Merchant, and they’ll provide you with a free Bamboo Fishing Rod.

Completing Adventures of the Expedition quest

During Chapter 3, you can embark on a quest called “Adventures of the Expedition.” Speak with Adventure Pro Percy in Kastleton to accept this quest. To complete it, visit the Amitoi House and send one of your Amitoi on an expedition. Afterward, return to Adventure Pro Percy to finish the quest and receive a Bamboo Fishing Rod as a reward, completely free of charge.

Crafting the Fishing Rod

As you progress in the game as a fisher in Throne and Liberty, you will begin to look forward to upgrading your fishing rod to catch rarer and more valuable fish. To upgrade the Bamboo Fishing Rod, you need to accumulate enough Nature’s Jade and then visit a Sundries Crafter in one of the major towns.

To upgrade your Bamboo Fishing Rod to a Steel Fishing Rod, you’ll need 10 Nature’s Jade and some additional crafting materials. For a further upgrade to a Monster Bone Fishing Rod, you’ll need another 30 Nature’s Jade. If you’re lucky enough to obtain a Tevent Soul Fragment, you can bypass the intermediate steps and craft the powerful Tevent Fishing Rod directly using 100 Nature’s Jade.

How to Get Fishing Bait in Throne and Liberty

To start off your fishing adventure, you will need bait. A good starting point would be the Paste Bait. You can easily purchase it and get a free box of it daily from the Contract Coin Merchant. So, you will always have enough for your expedition.

All Fishing Bait and How to Get Them in Throne and Liberty

Throne and Liberty offer a variety of bait types, each with its own unique benefits that can make catching certain fish easier. Let’s explore these different baits and where you can find them.

Paste Bait is the easiest bait to find since it’s available as a purchasable item from Throne of Liberty’s premium shop and contract merchants. They’re also relatively cheap, allowing you to stock up on around 100 bait daily. The other three bait types are much more challenging to find, but they’ll increase the odds of catching certain fish, making them worth keeping on hand until you absolutely need them.

How to Fish in Throne and Liberty

Before heading out to the coast, make sure you have your fishing rod and bait equipped. Open the Character section of the menu and check the top left corner to see which rod and bait are currently selected. The choices you make will depend on the type of fish you’re hoping to catch. Once your gear is ready, visit any coastline in the area and cast your line to catch your first fish!

Once you’ve cast your line into the water, patiently wait for a fish to take the bait. When a fish bites, a stamina bar will appear. To successfully reel in your catch, you’ll need to deplete this stamina bar completely by pulling your line in the opposite direction of the fish’s movement. Keep in mind that you also have a stamina bar. If your stamina meter becomes fully depleted, the fish will break free.

Throne and Liberty Fishing Locations – Where to Find Fish

Different fishing locations in Throne and Liberty offer unique catches and rewards. Saurodoma Island is renowned for its high-quality fish, though they can be more challenging to reel in. For a more adventurous approach, explore Daybreak Shore and send your Amitios on expeditions to discover hidden fishing spots.

Rewards for Fishing in Throne and Liberty

While the primary goal of fishing in Throne and Liberty is to catch a variety of sea creatures, there’s always the exciting possibility of reeling in something extra. You might find yourself hauling in sacks filled with valuable items, including cooking ingredients, Sollant (currency), Trait Unlockstones, and more.

However, fishing is pretty profitable in Throne and Liberty, but just because it is so, this means that sometimes you would have to lose your bait if your catch manages to escape. Fishing still remains a very rewarding and enjoyable activity.
