How to Find the Pyromancer’s Key in Avowed

As you delve into the vast world of Avowed, you’ll frequently come across chests while exploring hidden areas on the map. While many can be unlocked easily through interaction or lockpicking, some require a bit more effort but offer greater rewards. One such chest is the Pyromancer’s Chest, located north of Berath’s Gateway in Dawnshore. You’ll find it roughly in the middle of the area’s left side. Here’s how you can obtain the key to unlock it.

Location of the Pyromancer’s Chest and Key in Avowed

In Avowed, players can find the locked chest requiring the Pyromancer’s Key just north of Berath’s Gateway. It’s located within an old camp and emits a purple glow, signalling high-quality loot inside. Fortunately, the Pyromancer’s Key isn’t far from the chest. Here’s how you can find it:

    • To find the Pyromancer’s Key, enter Berath’s Gate cemetery and exit through the back. Once outside, follow the path to the left until you see two bridges ahead. Continue forward and, after crossing the first bridge, look for a slope on the left that leads to higher ground.
    • After reaching the second bridge, turn right onto the path between the rocks. There, you’ll encounter a Crazed Pyromancer attempting a new spell—only for it to comically backfire, resulting in the Pyromancer blowing himself up.
    • Approach the aftermath and collect the Pyromancer’s Key along with a unique item, Anextli’s Grimoire. This grimoire is one of the best early off-hand items in Avowed, allowing you to cast a range of level 1 magic spells, as well as some advanced ones if you’re playing as a wizard.

    Opening the Locked Chest

Now, head back to the locked chest and use the Pyromancer’s Key to open it. Inside, you’ll find several high-quality items, along with a few trinkets that can be sold to vendors for a decent profit. Here’s everything you can loot from the chest:

    • Amethyst
    • Common Grimoire of Embers
    • Vessel Bone
    • Two Pelts
    • Softwood Branch
    • Iron Chunk
    • Four Grenades

Since Grenades are scarce early in the game, this chest—and the process to obtain its key—provides a great opportunity to stock up on them.

Conclusion: The Pyromancer’s Chest in Avowed offers valuable loot, making it well worth the effort to unlock. By following the steps to retrieve the Pyromancer’s Key, players can access powerful items early on, including rare Grenades. This hidden reward adds a strategic advantage, especially for those focusing on magic or explosive combat.
