Exploring the vast, unforgiving desert of Dune: Awakening can be an adventure on its own. While you can eventually craft vehicles to zoom across the dunes, fast travel becomes a real time-saver—especially when sandworms and sandstorms are constantly lurking. Here’s a quick guide to understanding how fast travel works in the game.
Fast Travel Isn’t Instant or Free

Unlike many other MMOs where you can just click a point on the map and teleport there, fast travel in Dune: Awakening works a bit differently. You’ll need to find and interact with specific NPCs—Ornithopter Pilots—to access it.
You can’t use it on a whim from anywhere on the map, and there’s always a fee in Solari, the game’s currency.
Where It Starts: Griffin’s Reach

Your journey begins in Hagga Basin South. As you move through the main quests early on, you’ll be guided to a hub called Griffin’s Reach Tradingpost. The first time you enter, you’ll automatically get a quest titled A Wider World.
Look for the pilot NPC near the back of the trading post—usually standing by a projection of an Ornithopter. Talking to them for the first time opens up your fast travel options.
Initial Travel Options and Costs
Once the fast travel system is unlocked, you’ll be given a few destination choices:
- Arrakeen
- Hagga Basin
- Harko Village
Traveling to the bigger city hubs like Arrakeen or Harko Village will cost you around 2,500 Solari. Smaller outposts or regions are usually cheaper.
If you’re just hopping between tradeposts, expect to pay around 700 Solari per trip.
Each Region Has Its Own Pilot
You don’t always have to return to Griffin’s Reach. Every region’s trading post should have its own Ornithopter Pilot, meaning you can fast travel locally without having to backtrack all the time.
Unlocking More Fast Travel Points
Sometimes, you won’t see all locations listed when you try to fast travel—especially within Hagga Basin. That’s because fast travel points in that area are unlocked by visiting them on foot first. After discovering a new location manually, it’ll appear in the fast travel menu the next time you talk to a pilot.
So if you’re wondering why a spot isn’t showing up, chances are you just haven’t been there yet.
Final Tips
- Always carry enough Solari – You’ll need it to pay for each fast travel.
- Don’t overlook the pilots – They’re easy to miss in crowded posts.
- Explore to expand – Visit more places to increase your travel options.
Fast travel makes desert life a lot easier, so keep an eye out for those pilots and plan your routes wisely!
