In The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, becoming a vampire or curing yourself of vampirism is a major part each with its own set of challenges and rewards. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know we’ll explain how to get infected, what to do after, and how to fully turn into a vampire. If you’re already one and want to go back to normal, we’ll also show you two ways to cure it one fast and one that takes a bit more work.

How to Cure Vampirism in Oblivion Remastered – The Elder Scrolls IV

Curing Vampirism in Oblivion depends on how much time has passed since you were first infected with Porphyric Hemophilia. If it’s been less than 72 hours, you’re still in the clear you can easily cure the disease just like any other. Eat a food item like Mandrake Root, drink a potion, cast a Cure Disease spell, or visit a Chapel or Wayshrine for a blessing. Any of these will work as long as the infection hasn’t taken full hold. But if more than 72 hours have passed, it’s a different story. At that point, you’ve officially become a vampire, and your only options are to either visit the Font of Renewal in Deepscorn Hollow for a quick fix, or take on the much longer and more involved “Vampire Cure” quest.

    Vampire Cure Quest

If you’re already a vampire in Oblivion and missed the 72-hour cure window, your only real option is to complete the “Vampire Cure” quest. To get started, head to the Arcane University in the Imperial City and speak with Raminus Polus. Once you’ve become a vampire, a “Cure Vampirism” dialogue option will show up when talking to healers and Mages Guild members they’ll all direct you to Polus, which starts off the quest.

Polus doesn’t have the cure himself, but he sends you to Skingrad to speak with Count Janus Hassildor. The Count’s wife is also a vampire, and he also want to cure her. He promises you a potion if you help make it happen.

This leads you to a witch named Melisande, who lives in Drakelowe. She’s the one who can brew the cure, but you’ll first need to gather five empty Grand Soul Gems. You can buy them from the Mystic Emporium in the Imperial City or from Mages Guild halls around Cyrodiil. The Chorrol guild hall has several locked in display cases grab them if you can pick the locks. Also, a few empty gems spawn in local dungeons once the quest starts check Crayfish Cave, Nornal ruins, and Squandered Mine, all near Cheydinhal.

Once you hand over the gems, Melisande gives you a much longer shopping list:

    • Bloodgrass
    • Garlic
    • Nightshade
    • Blood of an Argonian
    • Ashes of a Powerful Vampire

The first three are common alchemy ingredients and pretty easy to find. The hard part is getting the Blood of an Argonian and the vampire ashes. To get the blood, Melisande gives you an enchanted dagger use it on an Argonian NPC. You might find one in the Arena if you haven’t finished that questline yet, or you can hunt down Argonian bandits in places like Veyond Cave, just north of Bravil.

For the vampire ashes, you should target Hindaril, a powerful vampire hiding in Redwater Slough. Kill him, and he’ll drop a unique item: the Ashes of Hindaril.

Once you’ve gathered everything, return to Melisande and wait 24 in-game hours for the potions to brew. She’ll give you one to cure yourself and another to deliver back to Count Hassildor for his wife. After that, just hand over the second potion to complete the quest and earn your reward.

Font of Renewal in Deepscorn Hollow

If you’re looking to cure Vampirism the easy way in Oblivion, the Font of Renewal inside Deepscorn Hollow is your best place but getting there is a bit of an adventure. Deepscorn Hollow is a hidden underground place located on a small island southeast of Leyawiin, way down in the corner of the map. Early in the game, after the tutorial, you’ll get a Deepscorn Hollow Key and a Bloodstained Note from someone named Greywyn, telling you the place is now yours. This starts off the “Deepscorn Hollow” quest and adds a map marker to help you find it.

To reach the island, head southeast of Leyawiin until you find a bridge that leads across the water. The island looks pretty empty except for a ruined house, but once you get close, your quest will update and hint at a hidden entrance. Head around to the southern shore, and look for a stone well near the coast. Just beside it, in the water, you’ll find more ruins and if you swim underneath them, you’ll spot a hollow tree trunk. That’s the secret entrance. Use the key you got with the note to open it.

Inside, after emerging from the water, turn left into the Deepscorn Cloister, then take another left to find a small pool. Jump in, and at the base of the central pillar, you’ll find the Font of Renewal. To activate it, you need to be a vampire and have at least one Purgeblood Salts. You can gather these from the nearby Purgeblood Crystal Formations. Once you’ve got one, just interact with the Font, and your Vampirism will be cured instantly and for good.

How to Become Vampire in Oblivion Remastered – The Elder Scrolls IV

If you’re looking to become a vampire quickly in Oblivion Remastered, the easiest method is to make a trip to Barren Cave. You’ll find it just off the Blue Road, east of the Imperial City on the way to Cheydinhal. Head inside, and you’ll encounter a couple of vampires. The key here is to let them hit you. You need to contract Porphyric Hemophilia, the disease that eventually turns you into a vampire.

Once you’ve been infected, you can leave the cave. Now, just wait. Spend three full in-game days either by resting, waiting, or going about your business. On the third day, find a bed and sleep when you wake up, you’ll be greeted with a pop-up message letting you know that the transformation is complete.

Decided that degrees were as useful as extra lives in a Mario game-totally unnecessary! I’m diving into the extravagant universe of my favourite game, Assassin’s Creed, which lets me roam the world without actually paying for plane tickets. Hodophile by nature and aspiring to get lost in Hang Sơn Đoòng cave in Vietnam someday!
