How to Create Yao Ming Template Build in NBA 2K26

If you want to play like a giant in NBA 2K26, this Yao Ming build is a good option. Standing at 7’4, this build uses Yao’s style, dominant in the paint, strong on the boards, and smooth with his mid-range game. It’s not made to be the most competitive or “meta” centre build, but if you want that big-man feel and the experience of towering over everyone on the court, this template is perfect.

How to Create a Yao Ming Template Build

This Yao Ming build isn’t meant to be the best centre in NBA 2K26; it’s designed to feel like Yao. It’s big, strong, and dominates inside the post with a reliable mid-range shot. If you want to relive that old-school big-man style and tower over everyone at 7’4, this build will give you that experience.

Finishing Ability

Yao was known for his size and inside dominance, so finishing is where this build shines.

  • Close Shot: 87 (with Gold Float Game and Gold Hook Specialist).
  • Driving Layup/Dunk: Both around 65-70, which is enough for Bronze Physical Finisher.
  • Standing Dunk: 90, giving us Gold Rise Up and Gold Aerial Wizard.
  • Vertical: 70, which is key for unlocking Elite Big Man Standing Contact Dunks.

You need to be careful with weight here; going heavier would’ve locked you out of these dunks.

Post Game & Mid-Range

This is where the Yao really shows up.

  • Post Control: 87. That unlocks Gold Hook Specialist, Post Up Poet, and even Hall of Fame Post Fade Phenom.
  • Mid-Range Shot: 90. Super reliable and ties perfectly with post scoring. This also gives Hall of Fame Post Fade Phenom and Gold Set Shot Specialist.
  • Three-Point Shot: Just a 45, which makes sense, as Yao wasn’t a floor-spacing big man.
  • Free Throw: 89, so if you can time your release, free throws are automatic.

So while this isn’t a shooter’s build, the mid-range and post-game are very good.

Playmaking

Yao wasn’t really a playmaker, so passing is limited here.

  • Pass Accuracy: 65 (enough for Bronze Break Starter and Bronze Dimer).
  • Ball Handle & Speed with Ball: Pretty much non-existent. This is a big-man build, so don’t expect to dribble around.

Defense & Rebounding

This is where the build gets really balanced for a giantcentrer.

  • InteriorDefencee: 85 (Gold Off-Ball Pest, Silver Post Lockdown).
  • Block: 84 for Silver Paint Patroller.
  • Rebounding: 92 Offensive, 82 Defensive. That unlocks Gold Boxout Beast and Gold Rebound Chaser.

One big change in 2K26 Boxout Beast is no longer tied to strength, only rebounding ratings. That means even skinnier builds can dominate the glass.

Physicals

For a 7’4centrer, the physicals actually aren’t too bad.

  • Speed: 56 (which feels faster this year compared to 2K25).
  • Strength: 89. You can push this to 91 with cap breakers for Gold Brick Wall.
  • Vertical: 70 (needed for elite big-man contact dunks).
  • Agility: 42.

This build is mobile for someone this big, and strength cap breaking makes it even better.

Takeovers

This year’s takeover system gives some cool new options:

  • Splash Tower: Boosts rebounding, sets stronger screens, and improves box-outs.
  • Paint Surge: A new takeover that combines standing dunk and post moves, making you unstoppable under the basket.
  • Board Beast: Another crasher takeover that boosts rebounding and finishing inside.

The top attributes are offensive rebounding, standing dunk, and mid-range shooting, while the standout badges include Rebound Chaser, Post Scorer badges, and Set Shot Specialist.
