How to Change Jobs in Octopath Traveler 0

In Octopath Traveler 0, your character’s job class plays a big role in battles and overall strategy. While your main character can switch between different jobs, the rest of your party members are stuck with their starting jobs. Learning how to change jobs and unlock new ones for your protagonist can give you a major advantage, letting you adapt to different enemies and make the most of your skills in tough fights.

How to Change Jobs

In Octopath Traveler 0, only your main character can switch job classes. All your other party members stick to the one job they started with. That’s why unlocking more jobs for your protagonist is really useful, especially in tough battles where hitting an enemy’s specific weakness can make a big difference. In Octopath Traveler 0, your protagonist can take on jobs like Warrior, Merchant, Thief, Apothecary, Hunter, Cleric, Scholar, and Dancer.

To change your job, just open the Skills section from the main menu. Inside, you’ll see a tab that shows all the jobs your character has unlocked so far. This page also lets you check each job’s details, the skills you’ll gain, and how your stats will shift if you switch roles. Once you’re on the job screen, scroll through the list, pick the job you want, and confirm your choice. Your character will instantly switch to that class.

You can only change jobs after you’ve learned enough Battle Skills. These skills unlock as you earn JP, which you get simply by fighting enemies. The more you battle, the more JP you earn and the more skills you can unlock. Octopath Traveler 0 has 18 different job classes in total. Your main character can unlock 8 of them, while the remaining 10 are tied to specific characters and can’t be used by the protagonist.
