Shard Cards in FragPunk: How They Work and How to Use Them
Shard Cards are one of FragPunk’s most distinctive features, allowing players to alter the rules of each round. Each Shard Card has a unique effect, and before a round begins, teams receive a random selection of cards drawn from each player’s available collection.
To activate a Shard Card, players must invest Shard Points, with the required amount displayed at the top of each card. If the available options aren’t ideal, players can spend Shard Points to reroll and receive a new card by clicking the refresh button beneath it.
Shard Points are displayed under a player’s banner—at the top of the screen during the rule-selection phase and below their health bar once the round starts—making it easy to track available resources. Players earn Shard Points during matches through eliminations, assists, streaks, or by looting them from the ground.
Unused Shard Points carry over to the next round, allowing players to save and use them strategically. The more Shard Points a player has, the more Shard Cards they can activate, creating new opportunities to shift the tide of battle.
Unlocking and Using Shard Cards in FragPunk
Most Shard Cards activate at the start of each round, applying their effects immediately. However, Special Shard Cards can be manually activated. To use them, players must press the Special Shard Card button, which can be customized in the FragPunk settings under the Keyboard or Controller tab. All active Shard Cards appear to the right of the Lancer’s Skills at the bottom of the screen.
While players start with a selection of Shard Cards, additional ones can be unlocked by completing matches. Players can view their unlocked Shard Cards in the main menu by navigating to the Shard Card tab and selecting the Handbook. This allows them to review each card’s effects and Shard Point cost for better strategic planning.
Once unlocked, a Shard Card has a chance to appear during the rule-making phase of each round in a real match.
