In this walkthrough, you will learn how to finish the quest Wisdom of the Ages at Fort Bulwark, filled with a handful of puzzles and enemies. As soon as you land, you may loot a few mages on top of the fort, then enter through a door at the bottom to give way to the main quest.
Navigating Your Way Through Fort Bulwark
Walk across some halls inside Fort Bulwark, most, if not all are dead ends, but you might find some loot in there. Move mostly through wooden doors. One major area will be a bridge with a locked gate. To access it, open a different wooden door, which will lead you through a cave and into another locked gate. Once the enemies have been taken care of in this area, look for the lever at the dead-end to open the gate. This lever allows you to go further along to a second lever that is responsible for lowering the drawbridge.
After the lowering of the drawbridge, head back to the bridge area. Here you will encounter yet another locked gate, which is governed by a tile puzzle with pressure plates. To open the gate, you will have to press down the plates in a particular diagonal pattern— one tile per row.
Beyond all these seems to be a prisoner-talk with him. Go through and pass all dialogue prompts to proceed with your quest. Here, you can rest and spend skill points if you wish. After freeing the prisoner, pass through the wooden doors to the next stage, which consists of two difficult puzzles.
Solving the Puzzles and Completing the Quest
Next, there’s something of a trap puzzle employing arrows and a room with four statues – this puzzle is quite simple to solve: turn each of the four statues to face the center, then step down on the pressure plate and voilà–it opens a secret door. Now the last puzzle has a central chest with a hammer surrounded by statues, each one having its own individual chest. These statues are placed facing away from the center.
Scale the platform at the center and gaze from there at the statues. Icons will appear indicating which item is tied to which statue. Place the correct item in the appropriate chest to make that statue turn. Putting wrong items will reset the puzzle and provide different and new clues altogether.
Through trial and error, the item placement is as follows:
- Sword: Right side, closest to the door
- Stone: Corner statue
- Gem: Farthest left statue
- Skull: Next to the gem
- Helm: Next to the goblet
- Hammer: Left-side statue near corner
- Book: Next to the hammer
- Goblet: First statue interacted with, far right
Once all items are placed correctly and all statues have rotated, a secret door opens. In the next room, collect the scrolls and the shield to complete the Wisdom of the Ages quest.
