Nothing ruins the gaming vibe quicker than getting ready to play a new game like Battlefield 6 and receiving this message: “Please update your Nvidia GeForce driver. Required version: 576.88 or later.” If you are experiencing this, you are not alone. The good news is that it’s a simple and easy fix that does not require complicated tinkering, and here’s how you can update your Nvidia driver with the new official Nvidia App to get back into the gaming vibe uninterrupted.
Download and Install the Nvidia App
First, you will want to download the official Nvidia App, as it’s the new driver update and has replaced the older GeForce Experience. When you do this, you can open your web browser and search “Nvidia App download” to get access, or to be direct you could use the official Nvidia site. Click on the Download Now button and download the installer so you can install the new Nvidia driver. Once the download has completed, double-click the installer file, which is usually named NVIDIA_App_Setup.exe or something similar. If your computer requests permission to make changes, click Yes. Follow the setup prompts, accept the license terms, and the app should take care of the installation. It should only take a couple of minutes and it should automatically launch when it finishes.
Update Your Driver and Launch the Game
With the Nvidia App open, navigate to the Drivers tab at the top of the window. Here, click on Check for Updates so the app can connect to Nvidia’s servers and find the latest driver version compatible with your graphics card. When the newest driver (version 576.88 or higher) appears, click Download. Depending on your GPU, the file size may be between 600MB and 900MB, so it might take a few minutes.
After the download completes, click Install and choose the Express Installation option. This is the simplest way to update, as it automatically uninstalls the old driver, installs the new one, and optimizes your system performance. Once the installation finishes, restart your PC—even if the app doesn’t prompt you to do so—to make sure the new driver is fully applied.
Finally, open your game launcher, whether it’s EA App or Steam, and launch Battlefield 6. The driver error should now be gone, allowing you to enjoy smooth gameplay without any interruptions.
