Find the Secret of the Mountaintop – Nightreign

The Mountaintop in Elden Ring: Nightreign is home to a powerful secret, but getting there won’t be easy. You will need to wait for a special event, fight tough enemies, and be well-prepared for the cold. In this guide, we will explain when to go, what to bring, and how to reach the very top of Ice Mountain

How to Reach the Mountaintop

If you are trying to reach the Mountaintop in Elden Ring: Nightreign, you will need to wait for the Shifting Earth event to be active. This event triggers randomly in Limveld, but you can check at the start of your run if it’s available by opening the Expedition menu.

Best Time to Visit the Mountaintop

While the Mountaintop is technically available from Day 1 but the area is pretty tough. So, it is best to go there on Day 2, and only when your Nightfarers are at least Level 10.

Preparation To Reach the Mountaintop

Before you head out, make sure to grab some Frost Resistance Relics. They will help you to survive the cold. You can find good ones by farming Fissure in the Fog or by taking down the Nightlord. Once Day 2 begins, start making your way north, and make sure your party is strong.

The enemies and bosses at the Mountaintop are difficult to take down. So, wait until your characters are Level 10 or higher. Taking down the bosses here also gives you a big reward in the form of Runes. Also, bring along a Fire, Poison, or Bleed weapon for fights up there.

To make the fight easier, start by getting the Favor of the Mountaintop Dormant Power, which helps reduce the damage you take. On top of that, having the Improved Frost Resistance and the Attack Boost Dormant Powers will give you a big advantage against the bosses.

Find the Secret of the Mountaintop

Start from the Southern edge of the snowy mountain. Here, you will find spirit springs that you can use. You can ride it up and begin your journey to the Mountaintop.

When you are after the secret of the Mountaintop, you will need to reach the highest peak in the area, Ice Mountain. Climbing up isn’t too complicated, but the bosses are difficult. Once you are on the path north on Day 2, stick to the eastern side of the Mountaintop area.

Now, you will come across a Flying Dragon. You will find the Flying Dragon near the base of the snowy mountain, right in the central area. It’s huge, so you can easily spot it even from far away. When you first come across it, you will see it battling a Snowfield Troll. Fighting them both at the same time can be tough, so it’s best to deal with them one at a time. Then make your way westward up the mountain using Spirit Springs and climbable rocks.

You will also come across the Mountaintop Ice Dragon. The Mountaintop Ice Dragon is one of the toughest bosses you will face in this area. It’s completely optional, so you don’t have to fight it. If you’re not ready, it’s best to just avoid it and come back later.

At the top, you will face a Frost Dragon. It’s a tough fight, but with enough Frost Resistance. If you don’t want to fight the dragon, you can skip it, but that will make it harder to figure out the route to the very top. If you do fight, Fire and Bleed attacks work well.

After defeating the dragon, keep heading east and climb further until you reach the final crystallized structure at the summit, which is the secret of the mountain top. Interact with it to receive a boon that boosts both your attack power and Frost Resistance.
