In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, the Missing Missive quest is important for eliminating Ise Sadaoki. As Yasuke, you need to find a letter that Sadaoki sent to his brother, Sadatame, before it is compromised. Clues to Find the Messenger:
- He is in Yamashiro.
- He is southeast of Arashiyama.
- He is on a bridge.
Locating the Messenger in Yamashiro
The messenger can be found on a bridge in Yamashiro, southeast of Arashiyama. Since this is a non-hostile area, you won’t encounter any enemies here.
How to Find the Messenger
- Open your map and locate Yamashiro, which lies north of Izumi Settsu and east of Harima.
- Zoom in to find Arashiyama, which is situated west of Kyoto.
- Since the clue states that the messenger is southeast of Arashiyama, mark the area accordingly.
- If you have an available scout, send them to the location. Otherwise, travel there yourself.
- Upon arrival, investigate the bridge in the designated area.
Interacting with the Messenger
Once you find the messenger, approach him. He will reveal that an Oni has stolen the letter and taken it to a bamboo grove behind the temple.
Retrieving the Missing Letter
Your next objective is to track down the thief in the Bamboo Grove, which is marked on your map.
Finding the Thief
- Travel to the Bamboo Grove and investigate the area.
- If the map marker disappears, search the surroundings carefully.
- Cut through bamboo using Yasuke’s long katana to clear paths.
- Once you locate the thief, approach him to trigger a cutscene.
Gennojo Boss Fight
Gennojo is a fast opponent, so be prepared for a challenging fight.
Combat Strategy:
- At the start of the battle, dodge immediately to avoid his exploding knives—getting hit by them will deal significant damage.
- Gennojo primarily attacks with two consecutive unstoppable moves—dodge both to create an opening.
- When he is vulnerable, strike with three light attacks, then retreat to prepare for his next moves.
- After his unstoppable attacks, he will throw exploding knives—block them with precise timing.
- Repeat the cycle of dodging, counterattacking, and blocking until his health bar is fully depleted.
Once the fight is over, a cutscene will play, and Gennojo will surrender the letter.
Returning the Letter
After securing the letter, head back to the messenger at the marked location. Upon receiving the letter, he will decode its message, confirming what Ise Sadatame revealed during “The Bad Brother” quest.
