Dive into the Under the Frozen Sea mission in Revenge of the Savage Planet while traversing the Zenithian Rift’s vertical terrain. This guide will help you crack the frozen floor, grab other key upgrades such as the Stomp Booster, beat Clawbarella, and seize the Underwater Scooter for access to new areas.
Exploring Zenithian Rift & Finding a Way to Crack the Floor
The Zenithian Rift is a more linear and vertical planet than the others you’ve visited so far. Expect lots of double-jumping and platforming along the way. Start by heading into the ice cave straight from the teleporter, hopping over some volcanic platforms.
If you’re looking to grab every item, turn around 180° and make your way to the edges of the nearby lava pool — you’ll find some Orange Goo and crates there.
Breaking Through the Ice
Inside the cave, you’ll hit a dead end with some cracked ice on the floor. Scan it to trigger a new mission. You’ll need a new ability to smash through it, so for now, backtrack out and head toward the higher plains using the nearby exit.
On the way, use the Lava Extractor and burn away any spiderwebs blocking your path. Once outside again, keep jumping across the floating platforms — just be careful not to stand on any blue ice when enemies are nearby, as fire will melt it. Look around for grapple points if you’re unsure how to reach a platform.
At the top, you’ll find a console. Activate it, and prepare for a fight. Focus on taking out healing creatures first, then deal with the flying, fire-breathing birds. When the battle’s over, you’ll be rewarded with the Stomp Key Component.
Unlocking the Stomp Booster
Return to base and craft the Stomp Booster with:
- 400 Carbon
- 300 Silicon
- 475 Aluminum
Now head back to the cracked ice floor. Use your new ability by double-jumping and holding Triangle (or Y) to smash through and reach the deeper level below.
The Geysers and a Quick Detour
Keep following the path until you reach a chamber with three strange geysers (aka Stompable Vents) and floating platforms. To continue, use your stomp boost on each of the three platforms to crack them open.
Before doing that, though, it’s worth heading out through the south exit into an area called Plyxor’s Shaft. You’ll find three weird trees and some glowing white orbs around — these are grind rails. Scan them to unlock the next mission step.
Return to base again and craft the Hawx Rail Grinder using:
- 200 Carbon
- 200 Silicon
- 300 Aluminum
Grind Up and Gear Up
Back in Plyxor’s Shaft, use the grind rail to head upward into Bioldeau’s Floating Isle. Activate the nearby teleporter on the left, but the real path is to the right. Hop across a few platforms and take the white rail across to a large floating rock.
Here, you’ll need to press three buttons to unlock a chest holding the Default Air Filter. Once you have it, return to base and craft it.
Next, head for the Summit of Ruin to find and capture Alpha Toxwin in a cave. Stagger the creature by hitting its weak spot, then scan and capture it. Let the research finish at base, then craft the Toxic Deshocker Mask — this wraps up that mission.
Boss Battle: Clawbarella
Head back to the Depths of Trrn. If you haven’t stomped all three vent platforms yet, do that first. Then drop down the gap to the lowest platform — it’s boss time.
The fight with Clawbarella is fairly straightforward. Hit the glowing weak spots on her belly while avoiding claw swipes. Once those are gone, bait her into slamming both claws down. Stomp onto them to break them and expose more weak points. Keep hitting those while dodging fire breath. After another slam and stomp cycle, finish off the rest of the weak spots.
Make sure to scan her before she’s defeated to log her in your journal, and enjoy the “Crushed” achievement when she goes down.
Grab the Underwater Scooter
After the fight, climb onto Clawbarella’s back and up to the cave above. There’s a crate here with the Underwater Scooter, which opens up new underwater areas and wraps up the mission nicely.
