Expedition 33 Crimson Forest Guide and All Locations

The Crimson Forest is a region in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. You will find it in the southwest corner of the world map, but it only becomes accessible once you unlock Esquie’s flying ability at the beginning of Act 3. This area is located near the Endless Tower and has floating rock formations covered in red foliage. In this complete guide, we will walk you through everything you need to explore the Crimson Forest, from solving the Sword Statue puzzle and locating key rest points to preparing for the boss fight against the Chromatic God Chevaliere.

How to Solve the Crimson Forest puzzle

To solve the Crimson Forest puzzle in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, you will need to locate and interact with three Sword Statues scattered throughout the area. Once all three statues have been activated, the area boss will appear.

The first Sword Statue can be found just before the fork leading to the Three Swords rest point. From there, to find the second statue, turn left and jump down to the lowest level of the area. The third and final Sword Statue is located by heading to the Three Swords rest point and following the path to the right.

Keep in mind that each time you activate a Sword Statue, enemies will spawn in the area, making the rest of your search more challenging. Because of this, it’s recommended to reach at least level 50 before attempting to complete this puzzle.

Once you have activated all three Sword Statues, head over to the Three Swords expedition flag and interact with the pool next to the glowing statues. Doing so will immediately trigger a boss battle, so make sure your party is fully healed and prepared before starting the battle.

Crimson Forest Rest Locations

When preparing for the final battle, the following two Flag rest points in the Crimson Forest that serve as fast travel locations make locating the Crimson Forest much easier:

  • The Crimson Perch is the first rest point you will come across in the Crimson Forest, located close to the main entrance. It serves as your initial safe zone, allowing you to regroup and prepare before heading deeper into the area.
  • The second rest point, The Three Swords, is situated just before the trio of stone sword statues. It’s placed right before the boss battle, giving you one last chance to heal up, adjust your gear, and plan your strategy.

Crimson Forest Boss: Chromatic Gold Chevaliere

The Chromatic Gold Chevaliere is a powerful boss that relies on fast-paced Fire and Ice combo attacks. Alongside it are two companions that focus on muting your party and boosting their own team’s abilities. You can equip Maelle with the Barrier Breaker to help absorb armor buffs.

You will also need to learn and master the timing of each enemy’s moves so you can effectively counter them. Defeating the Chromatic Gold Chevaliere unlocks the weapon Chevalam for Verso. Verso will begin each battle at Rank S, but won’t be able to receive healing or protection.
