In Expedition 33, the Bourgeon Skin is a premium item that can increase your character’s capabilities. To get it, you will have to defeat Bourgeon. After you have obtained the Bourgeon Skin, it provides opportunities to unlock new rewards and upgrades. This guide will take you through the process on how to get the Bourgeon Skin and how to use it.
How To Get Bourgeon Skin
To get a Bourgeon Skin, you will have to kill a Bourgeon, which is a big Nevron that can be located in many areas. There are two specific areas where you can find them, but make sure you are well-prepared before fighting them because these enemies are very difficult to beat.
One of the Bourgeon can be found close to the Meadows entrance, on the Peninsula to the east of Flying Waters. You will need to advance through the second act of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, though, before this area becomes accessible. Prepare for a difficult battle when you find them.
There is yet another Bourgeon on the map of Flying Waters. If you want to find it, head to the flower field rest point. From there go to Lumieran Street Expedition Flag and reverse directions a short way. The route you travel back will offer you a space among the greens in front and left of your view, containing the Bourgeon.
Bourgeon Fighting Strategy
Before reaching the Bourgeon, you need to complete the Gestal village story and unlock the ability to explore the overworld map.
- The Bourgeon is weak to lightning and fire, so focus on using weapons and attacks that deal these types of damage.
- Gustav’s Overcharge ability is crucial for dealing significant damage, so make sure to use it frequently and energize him using other characters’ abilities.
- The Bourgeon has a dangerous attack where it can eat one of your team members. Be ready to break its defense to free the consumed party member.
- The Bourgeon also uses a Miasma Spit attack, which is easy to dodge with proper timing. Wait until the attack is about a foot and a half above your character’s head before dodging.
- Once you defeat the Bourgeon, collect its skin and return it to the small Bourgeon. If you choose to fight the grown-up Bourgeon later, be cautious, as it’s much bigger and stronger.
It’s recommended to be around level 20 before taking on the stronger version of the Bourgeon, which comes with additional enemies.
How To Use Bourgeon Skin
After you gather the Bourgeon Skin, proceed to the Ancient Sanctuary region southwest, and a portal should lead you into an undiscovered map labeled The Small Bourgeon. In there, there is a little Nevron that requests the Bourgeon Skin. Release it to him, then close out the map and enter back into it. The Nevron should now have grown bigger in form as a larger Bourgeon. Talk to it again and you will get a Color of Lumina.
You can return the Color of Lumina to the camp Curator to permanently add a point of one of your character’s Lumina Points. Or, if you want to fight, you can kill the grown-up Bourgeon. In so doing, you receive 5 Color of Lumina and a Polished Chroma Catalyst, which you may use to upgrade weapons between Levels 3 and 9.
