In Elden Ring: Nightreign, the Night Tide, also called the Ring of Reign, is a dangerous part of the game that slowly closes in as time passes. Each game day lasts about 15 minutes, and during that time, the Night Tide pushes everyone toward a boss fight. If you’re caught in the rain, you will start losing health and can even lose a level and your runes if you die.
Nightreign Night Tide in Elden Ring
The Night’s Tide, also called the Ring of Reign, is a key gameplay feature in Elden Ring: Nightreign that you will need to keep an eye on as you play. The Night’s Tide is a wall of blue flames slowly closing in on Limveld and the Roundtable Hold. As night falls, it gets tighter, swallowing more land in a strange violet rain that keeps spreading.
How the Night’s Tide Affects Your Expedition
Night’s Tide pushes everyone toward a random spot where a boss fight happens. This starts happening at the end of Day 1 and again on Day 2. After Day 2, you are automatically moved out of Limveld to another area, where you will get one last chance to prepare before facing the final boss, the Night Lord chosen for that run.
Each “day” lasts about 15 minutes. During that time, you will see a blue circle on the map slowly closing in. The game will warn you on screen when it starts, but it’s a good idea to keep checking your map to see where the circle is and whether it’s moving.
If you get caught in the rain, you will slowly lose health. If your health completely runs out, you will lose both a level and your runes. You will revive, but you will be crawling on the ground for a few seconds. During that short window, your teammates can bring you back, but that can be tough if the rain is pouring down on everyone. When you respawn, it’s in a random spot, not near your squad. That means you could die again before getting back to safety.
The rain is a problem, but your flasks can help keep you alive. Refill them at a Site of Grace if you’re heading into a boss fight. If you died in the Night’s Tide on Day 1, you can return to that spot on Day 2 to pick everything up, including the XP from the level you lost. If it happened on Day 2, your only chance is if it happened near the boss area. You will have to make a run for it, but you can get them before the fight.
