Dune Awakening: Searching For Answers Mission Guide

Searching for Answers is one of the most important story missions in Dune: Awakening. In this quest, you’ll travel to the mysterious Old Carthag ruins with Zantara to uncover the truth behind your mission on Arrakis. This guide will walk you through every step of the mission, including how to start it, solve key obstacles, and survive the final moments so you’re fully prepared for what’s ahead.

How To Start the Search for Answers Quest

Go to Harko Village and speak with Zantara to start this quest. This quest only becomes available once you’ve finished all the other main story missions leading up to this point.

Tell Zantara that you’re prepared to visit the ruins of Old Carthag when you talk to her. This will cause a cutscene in which you and Zantara take an Ornithopter out to the ruins. After the cutscene, you’ll drop from the Ornithopter and start moving through the ruins. Follow the path until you come across a huge rotating fan blocking the way. You’ll need to find a way to shut it down to move forward.

How To Disable The Fan

To get past the fan, you’ll need to make two jumps first onto the platform right on top of the spinning fan, then a second jump across to the other side. Keep following the path and you’ll come across a console that controls the fan’s power. Hold down E to turn it off. Once the fan stops, head back and drop down the shaft to meet up with Zantara.

After you drop down the ventilation shaft, you and Zantara will get separated for a bit. While you’re on your own, you’ll need to break through a few doors using your Cutteray tool. As you move forward, Zantara will reveal something important this place isn’t a Harkonnen base like you might’ve thought. It’s actually something much more dangerous.

Eventually, you’ll come across a room filled with radiation. Inside, you’ll find a container with some Iodine Pills to help protect you, along with an ID band. You can go deeper into the base and through the Pentashield with this band. Right after you cross through the barrier, a cutscene will play and once it ends, get ready for a tough fight against a Tlielaxu Gholas enemy.

How To Defeat The Tlielaxu Ghola

For this fight, your best bet is to use AoE (area-of-effect) skills to take out groups of enemies quickly. Focus on headshots for the big, bulky ones, and just keep firing for the smaller creatures. You can also make things easier by jumping onto the catwalks and climbing back up. The enemies will try to chase you by taking the longer route around the circular room, giving you a bit of breathing room.

Things get more intense during waves 2, 3, and 4, as enemies will start coming from both sides of the arena and try to trap you. Keep clearing them out and holding your ground. Eventually, Zantara will send you a message saying her side is clear. Once that happens, enemies will stop spawning, and the Pentashield will drop, letting you move forward.

How To Complete The Search for Answers Quest

Keep using your Cutteray to open the blast doors and take down the remaining Gholas along the way. Then, reunite with Zantara to go to the mission’s last section. You’ll finally get some answers about why you were sent to this planet, and then a cutscene will play. Right after that, it’s time to run the base is about to collapse, and you only have a minute and a half to escape.

Don’t waste time fighting the incoming Gholas. Just sprint through the tunnels as fast as you can until you reach the Ornithopter. Once you’re there, jump in to make your escape. If you make it out, your reward is Zantara’s Crysknife. You’ll also earn a big chunk of experience and unlock the next stage of quests when you return to base.
