In Dune: Awakening, crafting powerful gear and vehicles means tracking down rare materials—like diamondine dust. Unlike basic ores, this valuable resource can’t be mined and must be looted or bought. This guide covers the best locations to farm diamondine dust, where to buy it, and how to prepare for the dangers you’ll face along the way.
How to Get Diamondine Dust
As you settle into mid-to-late-game play, you’ll notice crafting materials become increasingly scarce. Iron and copper are plentiful, but now you’re chasing rare materials like diamondine dust, a crucial element for advanced crafting of certain vehicles and equipment of higher level.
What Is Diamondine Dust?
Diamondine dust can’t be mined like a normal ore; it’s the remnants of industrial processes, meaning you’ll have to loot it from specific places or buy it—making it a little harder to collect than simple materials.
Where to Locate It
You will want to search landmark areas, represented with a mountain shape on your map. The landmark areas have loot containers and can sometimes contain diamondine dust. You will want to focus on two locations:
- Hand of Khidir (Jabal Eifrit Al-Janub): Head north from Vermillius Gap. This is normally the first main landmark that you can use for dust farming.
- Mysa Tarill (Top-left map corner): Located just past Western Vermillius Gap and right beside the Crossroads tradepost (fast travel point). Even though it is a small zone, it has a lot of loot and also contains intel you might want or need.
Caution: These landmarks are dangerous—expect tough enemies, especially snipers in Mysa Tarill. Gear up before you head in.
Prefer to Buy It?
If you’d rather skip the grind, diamondine dust can also be purchased—if you’re willing to part with a chunk of solaris.
Vendors:
- Zoe at the Crossroads tradepost in Mysa Tarill
- Weapon merchants in Arrakeen and Harko Village
Costs:
- 3,500 solaris per dust
- 2,500 solaris for fast travel to faction strongholds
So, yeah… not exactly a budget-friendly option.
What’s It Used For?
Diamondine dust is a core material in several recipes:
Vehicle Parts
- Especially for building the scout ornithopter and buggy
Weapons & Gear Sets
- Includes sets like House, Adept, and Regis
If you want better mobility and stronger weapons, you’ll need a steady supply. Farming landmarks regularly or budgeting for vendor visits is the way to go.
Quick Tips
- Bring heavy armor and strong weapons when farming
- Prioritize Hand of Khidir first—it’s more accessible
- Loot every container—you never know what you’ll find
- Save solaris for fast travel and rare purchases
