The “Drowner Tongues for Malachy” quest in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon is a side mission that sends you on a hunt for a strange ingredient, Drowner Tongues. In this guide, we will walk you through how to start the quest, where to find the Drowners, how many tongues you need, and what rewards you will earn once it’s done.
Drowner Tongues For Malachy Quest

To start the “Drowner Tongues for Malachy” quest, head over to The Gallows and pick up Malachy’s letter. Once you have got it, go talk to him and offer to help. That is when the quest will officially begin. If you already grabbed the two Drowner Tongues from the crate near the Shady Merchant’s letter, you will only need to collect four more to complete the task.
How to Get Drowner Tongues
You can get Drowner Tongues by defeating Drowners, which usually hang around swamps or any water areas. To find Drowner Tongues, fast travel to the Sunken Village in the Horns of the South. From there, go to the fast travel spot near the water, you will see plenty of Drowners along the shoreline. Just keep in mind, not every Drowner drops a tongue, so you might have to fight a few. Once you’ve collected all six, head back to the Deserted Settlement in the northwest and give them to Malachy.
Rewards
Once you finish the quest, you will be rewarded with 1,000 XP, 148 coins, and a special weapon called the Drowner’s Sword. The Drowner’s Sword is a rare one-handed weapon you can find in Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon. This blue-quality sword packs a punch, dealing between 20 to 23 damage with each hit. What makes it special is its chill effect, which can help slow down your enemies in battle. To wield it, you’ll need at least 6 Strength, 4 Dexterity, and 3 Partiality. It also costs 18 SP to use, so keep that in mind when planning your fights.
