Diablo 4 Three Witchcraft Altars at the Tree of Whispers – Why?

A question that has been creating a lot of buzz amongst players recently is why are there three different altars for the identical Witchcraft powers in the Tree of Whispers? Three distinct Altars of Witchcraft are located within the Tree of Whispers, as you may have noticed. Players have been scurrying around all three, believing that different witchcraft powers might be presented at the various altars, even though each has them available. Read along for a possible explanation!

    Overview of the Altars

The Tree of Whispers in Diablo 4’s Season of Witchcraft has three Altars of Witchcraft: Eldritch, Psyche, and Growth & Decay. Each is connected to a distinct school of magic. At these altars, players can use Restless Rot, a seasonal currency obtained by finishing bounties and vanquishing Headrotten foes, to unlock and enhance Witchcraft Powers.

    Possible Explanation

Each Altar of Witchcraft in the Tree of Whispers was originally designed to provide abilities unique to the Eldritch, Psyche, and Growth & Decay schools of magic. But because players were confused by this division, Blizzard combined the inventory so that all altars may offer the same set of abilities. One of the altars has a shimmering quality that seems to be a holdover from the previous design, which could suggest that it was connected to a certain school. The shimmering effect has not yet been officially explained by Blizzard.

    Player Reactions and Community Theories

Although each altar represents a different school of magic, the community has observed that their inventory seems to be the same, which has led to conjecture on their unique functions. Players have also noticed that one of the altars periodically has a shimmering effect, which has led to speculation regarding possible unintended advantages or impromptu improvements. However, Blizzard has not yet provided an official explanation for these findings.
