Diablo 4 Poison in the Roots Quest Guide

Embark on a chilling journey into the heart of darkness with the Poison in the Roots quest in Diablo 4 Season 7. This guide will walk you through the steps to unlock and complete this captivating quest, from gathering Grim Favors and deciphering witch’s riddles to battling encroaching Hollows and safeguarding a potent ritual. Whether you’re a seasoned adventurer or a newcomer to Sanctuary, this guide will equip you with the knowledge to navigate this challenging quest and reap its rewards.

How to Unlock Poison in the Roots in Diablo 4

To play the new content in Season 7 of Diablo 4, you need to have finished the main story at least once with any character. If you’ve already done that, you don’t have to play through the story again when you create a new character specifically for the season. These special “Seasonal Characters” are needed to play the new quests and unlock all the rewards. You can start playing the new season immediately with a Seasonal Character and begin the special seasonal challenges and rewards without replaying the entire game.

How to Complete Poison in the Roots in Diablo 4

You can start the ‘Poison in the Roots’ quest after finishing another quest called ‘Whispers in the Wind.’ To complete ‘Whispers in the Wind,’ you need to find and collect eight special items called ‘Grim Favors’ in the game Diablo 4.

Once you collect enough of these special items called ‘Grim Favors’ by completing tasks around the game world, you’ll unlock a new quest called ‘Poison in the Roots.’ This will lead you to talk to the witches who live near the ‘Tree of Whispers.’ After you talk to them, the screen will go dark for a moment, and when you come back, you’ll see the witches have started a special ceremony. This ceremony has four steps

  1. Light the braziers
  2. Gather Nangari blood
  3. Trace the ritual circle
  4. Protect the ritual

Light the Braziers Puzzle Solution

The first part of the ceremony involves remembering a special word from each of the three witches. They’ll say their words in a specific order. To complete this step, you need to click on the witches in the exact same order that they spoke their words.

To start the ceremony, you need to talk to each of the three witches in a specific order.

  1. Talk to Gelena, the witch in the bottom left corner.
  2. Then, talk to Caidin, the witch in the bottom right corner.
  3. Finally, talk to Ouna, the witch at the top. Talking to them in this order will light up all three braziers at the same time, and the ceremony will continue.

Gather Nangari Blood

For this part of the ceremony, you need to defeat three snakes that are inside a special circle. When you defeat each snake, it will leave behind some of its blood. Simply collect the blood from each snake like you would any other item.

Trace the Ritual Circle

The next step is a bit unusual. The witches will ask you to ‘trace the ritual circle with Nangari blood.’ Don’t worry, you don’t need to do anything special! Just walk your character around the edge of the circle, where the braziers are located. You might need to walk around a few times, but eventually, the blood will appear around the edge of the circle, and you’ll have completed this step.

Protect the Ritual

The last step is to defeat a group of enemies called Hollows who are trying to stop the ceremony. These enemies aren’t very strong, and even your basic attacks should be able to defeat most of them. If you’re having trouble fighting them off while you’re still learning the game, try lowering the game’s difficulty level. You can always increase the difficulty back to normal once you finish this quest. Once you’ve defeated all of the enemies, the ceremony will be complete. You’ll then be automatically sent back to the main game map and the quest will be finished.
