Crocodile Cap Location in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

The Crocodile Cap in Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is one of the game’s most iconic and quirky disguises. More than just comic relief, it gives Snake a real edge in stealth when moving through water. Found in the Chyornyj Prud area, this hidden item requires some swimming and climbing to reach. Here’s how to unlock it and why it’s worth adding to your gear.

How to Unlock the Crocodile Cap

Here are the steps you’ll need to follow in order to get the Crocodile Cap in Metal Gear Solid Delta:

Step 1: Reaching the Spot

Once you leave Rassvet, you’ll arrive at Chyornyj Prud. Hug the western boundary of the map and swim along until you come across a log lying across the water. Slip underneath it to move forward.

Watch your stamina. If it suddenly starts draining faster than usual, check for leeches. Go into the Cure menu and burn them off with the Cigar before continuing.

Step 2: Climbing Challenge

On the other side of the log, you’ll come up to a slightly raised area along the pond’s edge. Head north until EVA calls in. When the call ends, you’ll notice a tree you can climb, use it to begin a small rope-and-platform section.

Pro tip: when you’re dropping down from the first rope, spam the action button so you don’t fall all the way and have to redo the climb.

Follow the short obstacle path until you reach a lonely ledge in the far north. The Crocodile Cap is waiting there.

What the Crocodile Cap Actually Does

At first glance, it’s just a silly crocodile headpiece, but there’s a real stealth benefit. When Snake is swimming, his head looks like a croc snout sticking out of the water. That means guards and even wild animals have a harder time noticing him. Guard dogs are also less likely to give him away when he’s wearing it.
